I worked at Highwoods Properties (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Big company with many properties to work with. Executives outside Orlando exhibit and offer great potential within company. Raleigh crew exemplifies the results by which Orlando wishes to obtain and keeps those down in Orlando believing things will get better.

    Cons

Orlando management is completely dazed and confused. Extreme distrust and undercutting behind the scenes. The most unprofessional outfit I have ever worked for.

I have been working at Highwoods Properties full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are very generous, a fun company, generous, fair, accepting of employees ideas, safe environment for sharing those ideas, have an internal IT helpdesk, office and cube spaces are modern, the culture is very warm and open, as is upper management.

    Cons

Turnover is minimal so the position you're trying to move up to may not be available.

I worked at Highwoods Properties full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great and personable CEO. Great work/life balance.

    Cons

There was an attempt to be a community and accepting, but there were some people that preferred a certain shade of people to another in my division. It was obvious that "diversity" didn't quite exist in all areas and the opportunities/mentoring weren't the same for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Try to think outside of your "good ole boys' club".

I have been working at Highwoods Properties full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Executives are very kind and some office staff as well. Benefits are good.

    Cons

Management in the Orlando office is lacking in many areas. Too many managers managing the assets and no central control. Micro managing seems to be the narrative where all of the managers are looking out for themselves and ready and willing to throw coworkers and subordinates under the bus. Not a fun work environment when you expect to get fired everyday you go to work. Assets are not looked over very well by management. Pay is very low.

    Pros

A lot of the lower tier employees are great.

    Cons

Worst level of professionalism and respect from the local higher-ups.

    Advice to Management

Loosen your belts and respect your employees

Wonderful company with a great balance of understanding the need to work hard and play hard. Sharp and energetic environment. Great benefits and pay for this field.

    Cons

Some personality clashes within the department hesitantly addressed.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Awesome group of people to work with! Everyone is very pleasant and knowledgeable on accounting functions and processes pertaining to the job. Very open streams of communications are present which makes asking questions on unfamiliar tasks and assignments easier to grasp. Great compensation and benefits for the work required. Not a very stressful environment at all but you do have certain times where you might feel overwhelmed with assignments that are quarterly and annually outside the month to month tasks at hand.

    Cons

Not much room for growth unless senior positions become available due to employees leaving. Work becomes a little redundant as you go along.
