    Pros

Managers are kind. I didn't experience any rudeness.

    Cons

Extremely hectic and somewhat under-staffed in peak season. Pay is sometimes mediocre.

I worked at Hilldrup Companies part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with usually are cool as there is a lot of bonding while on the road and struggling to literally move houses. Other than that, it's a job. It's a job that can put some kind of food on the table at the end of the day. That's about it.

    Cons

Everything. Pay is awful compared to other moving companies. Hours suck. Tell you to come in super early only to leave for the job hours later and then management will try to take away those early hours you clock in the morning while you wait for them to get their act together.

    Advice to Management

Hit the streets with a crew and you'll understand.

I have been working at Hilldrup Companies full-time

    Pros

Long history of success and Hilldrup is a leader in the moving services industry. They are never satisfied with the status quo and are always on the cutting edge of the industry. Pay is competitive.

    Cons

Nothing really negative. Hardest thing about working here is just the nature of the industry itself. Lots of stress during peak times and there is not enough labor and drivers to cover all of the business that is booked/available.

  4. "Good Experience, didn't love the company. Didn't like management"

I worked at Hilldrup Companies part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay with a lot of overtime

    Cons

Incredibly long days (12-14). Exhausting and mind-numbing. It's not uncommon to get home at 12 and be expected to arrive at 6:30 the next day.

    Advice to Management

Give employees enough time to get 8hours of sleep. Stop understaffing moving teams.

I worked at Hilldrup Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some employees have been with the company over 20 years, showing good staff retention. There are positions that can be very stressful and require long hours during the summer.

    Cons

The company is slow to change and upper management isn't always open minded.

    Advice to Management

You should not have more vice presidents than directors and managers.

I worked at Hilldrup Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, employees are rewarded based on performance, and there are fun employee events to increase morale. The company also has a great reputation in the moving industry as a top performer.

    Cons

Unless you are a local resident or a "friend of the family," it is not only tough to advance, but it is also extremely tough to fit in. Not a very warm or welcoming atmosphere for new employees. The "good old boys club" mentality is prominent.

    Advice to Management

Put people in positions of power who have results-driven experience, so they can properly lead their teams. Not just people with connections.
