I worked at Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The agency participates in the Florida Retirement System pension plan.

    Cons

The Agency used to be a great place to work. Now they are focused on a 'get the employee' mantra and most are there for the 'every other week' paycheck. The equipment is relatively new but they do no upkeep it. It is a hostile, watch your back type of management bent on writing people up instead of solving a problem or worse keeping their heads in the sand when someone brings up a solution.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES. STOP TREATING THEM LIKE THROW AWAY OBJECTS. THIS COULD BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE IF YOU REALLY REPLACED LOWER LEVEL MANAGERS AND SAW WHAT OTHER AGENCIES DO RATHER THAN WHAT OTHER AGENCIES DO NOT.

I have been working at Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the best things about working for HART is the promotional opportunities offered as wells as their great benefits!

    Cons

You can see the favoritism here. However, if you just remain focus on being more efficient in your role, opportunities will become available.

    Pros

Never a dull moment. A lot of great people to work with, the operators are great and new leadership is supportive and dynamic. Competitive pay & benefits.

    Cons

Some people have the 'government mentality' and it can be challenging to move simple projects forward within specific groups.

I worked at Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) (More than a year)

    Pros

Laid back work environment; pay was never late; most support staff and bus drivers very easy to work with.

    Cons

Management does not lead by example. Employee Manual needs updating. Favoritism is the rule of the day. Long-time employees have the upper hand, even more so than Management itself.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what your employees have to say!

I worked at Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Tuition reimbursement, State Retirement , Sick and Vacation

    Cons

Pay for Non bargaining employees, no training program, no career advancement, health benefits, HR and policies, raises HA what raises I went 6yrs without a raise.

    Advice to Management

Change the pay of upper management and make then do work instead of having a pre meeting to another meeting and then a meeting to discuss what was just talked about at the last meeting. Promote from within, there are a lot of talented employees who have great ideas on how to improve the company. But the best talent gets laid off or have no choice to leave for lack of advancement. That is exactly what I did.
