I worked at Hillsborough County Public Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The teachers union stays current and seems to work for tenured employees

    Cons

Admin offers no support to new teachers. I felt abandoned. Moved to another district

    Advice to Management

Make an effort to actually mentor new teachers and foster work life balance. Taking classes on nights and weekends don't leave much room for grading papers and managing multiple grade levels

I have been working at Hillsborough County Public Schools full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Teachers are dedicated to helping students and working together. Most students are working hard to get an education in my class, but for most of them it is an elective and so not a typical classroom.

    Cons

Pay is based on whether or not the county can afford to raise salaries. Sometimes we can go several years without the possibility of a salary increase.
