I have been working at Hillsborough County Public Schools full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Teachers are dedicated to helping students and working together. Most students are working hard to get an education in my class, but for most of them it is an elective and so not a typical classroom.

    Cons

Pay is based on whether or not the county can afford to raise salaries. Sometimes we can go several years without the possibility of a salary increase.

I have been working at Hillsborough County Public Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The kids are tough, but if they know you care you can reach them and teach them. The administration that has been there is good.

    Cons

Some kids are going to give you a really hard time. New administration and teachers don't know what they're doing. There is a high turnover rate. The school is close to capacity, so most teachers float at least once. There is no money for new teacher equipment or repairs. Stealing is very prevalent.

    Advice to Management

We need upper management who will stay. Instead, we find at least one or two office people leave every year. Many times they are replaced by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
