Pros
Hilti is the best company I worked for. It is respectful, transparent and committed to society.
Cons
Salaries could be better however I wouldn’t change Hilti for money.

Excellent Company to sell for

Great products, Great Culture and Leaders
Cons
Construction Industry goes up and down
- Former Employee, more than 10 years★★★★★
Pros
People I work with and most of the ones I worked around. Benefits were better than most. Superior products (tools, anchors and fasteners) that I sold and represented.
Cons
Over the years I have witnessed a shift from their focus on tools and products to software and services. Hilti is a tool company, and IMHO the best in the business. By shifting their focus, they are marginalizing their tool business. Over the years I have witnessed the adoption of the "Woke" culture within Hilti. While not all of that is negative, it alienates a group of employees who are your strongest producers - those who have been with the company the longest and know the business inside and out. Over the years I have witnessed Hilti "Retiring" many of their best employees in favor of younger and less expensive employees. In almost every case this was a detriment to the business and customers. Over the years I have witnessed the promotion of people based on something other than their real qualifications. This has resulted in people in management positions that have no business being in management positions. This has also resulted in the loss of great people who leave the company either on their own or are "Retired".

Great work/life balance, support & a focus on devleopment!
May 11, 2023 - HR Manager in Plano, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I joined Hilti in search of better work/life balance and because I connected with the 4 core values, and my time here has far exceeded my expectations when I applied. In my time with Hilti, I have had two children, have had multiple promotions, and have received significant personal and professional development and support. Hilti's leadership at multiple levels truly care about our employees' experiences and well-being, and there is a lot of opportunity for growth here, even if you're not specifically knowledgeable about the construction industry.
Cons
We have opportunity to continue to streamline old processes in corporate functions. But, there is a commitment from our leadership to do so and it's a great opportunity for employees to contribute to making improvements and sharing perspective.

Don't work here out of college or for any reason. You can do better.

Some fellow employees are pleasant to interact with on a daily basis.
Cons
Horrible pay, treated like a secretary, horrible pay, no good incentives for doing well other than a couple hundred dollars in quarterly bonus, they disincentivized actually having meaningful conversations with large accounts because it doesn't count towards your number, horrible pay, lots of corporate drones coming and going, rate of attrition for new hires has to be the worst of any company, really bad HR department. And another thing: they like to move the goalposts on targets. In 2022, Hilti raised targets 2/3 through the year. So, everyone was trying to exceed targets, thought they were doing great, and then the targets changed.

Great for development and learning about the construction industry. Not loyal.
Apr 5, 2023 - Product Specialist in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Solid company culture and brand awareness. This is driven from the top down. Great at developing people in sales roles. They provide you with the necessary tools and workshops to make your job easy. Depending on the manager; you will get lots of support, especially if they did the role for a number of years. If you have a job-heavy territory, you will learns lots about the trades and applications. Career opportunities exists if you are willing to relocate.
Cons
The compensation is not the best for a company with such high margins. Lots of metrics to follow throughout the year and even if you achieve them, it does not guarantee a promotion if you don't fit the "agenda". I saw many people come in with little to no industry experience move up the ladder for meeting other requirements... Strict "Key Employee Agreement" (non-compete) in some of the support roles.

Inside Sales/Customer Service could be so much better.
Nov 26, 2022 - Inside Sales SpecialistRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Positives: The thing I probably like most about my job is my coworkers. They are super fun, helpful, and dependable people and usually seem pretty happy to be at work. The pay is pretty good, bonuses are okay (could be better for customer service positions), benefits are excellent. It is really amazing that Hilti did not lay anyone off during COVID and actually increased salaries company-wide for everyone by 2% I believe it was.
Cons
Negatives: first, the way Inside Sales/Customer Service team members are often treated at Hilti. Not only by those higher up in Sales, but our very own team leads/RMs often micromanage and show favoritism in subtle ways, which I feel makes the environment a bit hostile and often makes me feel like a child. The overly positive culture pushed by management-tier employees, at least in my experience, is often very forced and almost burdensome. I enjoy my job and working for Hilti, but let's be real. None of us would be there if we did not need to make money. I don't love feeling forced to appear passionate about something I am not naturally super passionate about. After a little over a year in-position I've come to the conclusion that a lot of my complaints about the position are probably position-specific, not necessarily Hilti-specific. That being said, I plan to stay on and promote within the company and hopefully find a role I find more rewarding.
