I worked at Hilton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, Discounts, Meet amazing people.

    Cons

Management can be a cancer, HR can corruptly side with Management despite an entire staff complaining, you can see there's no hope in the work environment when the good executives and managers that come through get "relocated" or "resign" It's a hierarchy for sure sadly, corporate corruption indeed. Restaurants are not flexible on hours, mainly due to under-staffing and over-staffing different positons.

    Advice to Management

Don't hold people back from wanting to move up, it should be illegal to crush someone's future financially, while you wither away as an old manager nobody likes at the high salary you get paid.

    Pros

thorough hiring process but very professional and consistent departments and contacts throughout. training was dynamic, interesting and occasionally fun! Great interface with self-paced modules. Attentive and engaged trainers for first phase of training which was a month.
Disconnect during "break-out" sessions of webex meetings...unorganized and affected by moods of classmates. Not an effective learning tool!

    Cons

Disconnect during "break-out" sessions of webex meetings...unorganized and affected by moods of classmates. Not an effective learning tool!
2nd phase of training was OJT and scheduled for 3 weeks...tues-saturday 6:00-12:30 am
    late part-time shift
OJT was described as a time to get acclimated to phones and job in general.
1st night of ojt on phones for 1 1/2 hours but with ojt trainers in chat for entire time to assist
    calls were frequent
2nd night longer time on phones, no chat only help desk to assist
3rd night full shift on phones with no assistance other than standard help desk.
system JOURNEY well designed and easy to learn and use during training
but only taught hot key method
    mouse method discouraged
no troubleshooting protocol or assistance offered or available

    Advice to Management

realize that there is more than one type of hire in your virtual training environment. varied backgrounds and experience should be embraced and discussed more. strenthgs encouraged throughout 2 mo long process would have helped me a lot. began to realize that hilton way or hightway and that trainers were essentially sales robots with arsenal of manipulative tactics to make us think we were being listened to!
have a protocol for work flow failure in journey.
teach cause for termination examples before you throw to wolves on phones

I worked at Hilton (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at home was a 'pro' especially during bad weather. All calls were incoming - no cold calling/solicitation.

    Cons

There was extreme high pressure to up sell. The metrics were not reasonable. There was also high turnover - only 20% of my training class made it past 6 months. Micromanagement was also a big concern. My supervisor was constantly monitoring. I felt as if I were being stalked.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more supportive as opposed to critical. The metrics need to be relaxed.

I worked at Hilton as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice team, decent pay, I worked exactly 40 hours pretty much every week I was there. Everyone was very nice during my time there.

    Cons

A good portion of the people there are hired through staffing companies as contractors indefinitely. While this isn't that big of a deal, it means no vacation time, on holidays you don't get paid, and when they take the staff to lunch, an outing, or do a training, you aren't invited.

Also, I got a phone call one Sunday evening from the recruiter that got me the job saying that they got a call from my boss saying that I wasn't needed anymore, effective immediately. My recruiter pried for more info and they wouldn't tell him why. I frequently checked in with my supervisor about how I was doing any never heard anything negative about my performance. I was completely shocked to hear I had been let go.

    Advice to Management

Give a little heads up to people and some kind of a reason if you're going to let them go.

I worked at Hilton (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work at home is great. Training can be fun.

    Cons

Although this company says that they don't tolerate bullying, it happens. I was singled out and embarassed during training for asking questions. I was bullied by a fellow classmate and took it to HR. They talked to the employee, but nothing else was done. It didn't get better from there. The supervisor I had was awful. Her way of talking to you was to put you down. She spent more time making sure you understood what you did wrong and nothing good about your performace.

    Advice to Management

Really stand behind your zero tolerance of bullying.

I have been working at Hilton as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice facilities, feels like great opportunities

    Cons

Politics and Management Levels plays a big role that it is a detriment to the project. They think they have good communication, but they don't when it comes to projects. Some people are very difficult to work with that actually impact the project, but nothing is done about it.
