I have been working at Hilton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid time off, FANTASTIC discounts at Hilton branded properties, work hours, ability to work from home, work life balance, advancement opportunities, dedication by leadership to develop employees.

    Cons

Sitting a desk on the phone all day can be tedious, sometimes big projects are very time consuming and we are given not a lot of time to complete them.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing! I love that development is one of their top priorities and they truly invest in us. The only thing is that initiatives can seem pointless when they are being dictated from higher ups who do not have to do them.

I have been working at Hilton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great job especially for hospitality right out of college.
-Plethora of benefits (401k, team member travel, starting 21 days of PTO, 1 work from home day a week)
    -Multiple resources at your disposal
-Office culture is good for a big company. Everyone is very friendly and upper management is very approachable
-Opportunities for advancement go beyond just revenue management

    Cons

Office preaches for work/life balance but with 15 properties in a portfolio you typically need to work more than 40 hours a week to maintain performance especially when initiatives are due. Work is tedious and repetitive so it can be easy to burn out. Compensation is below par for relative revenue management positions. Also, yearly merit increases are minimal and do not reflect performance. Seniority and hard work usually lands you a harder portfolio with declining properties/difficult management teams with no compensation.

    Advice to Management

Portfolios need to be balanced so we can offer the best quality service to your teams. Right now, especially for senior specialists, we have multiple difficult properties/teams that take time away from lower maintenance properties. Specialist that go above and beyond deserve compensation for the time and effort they put into their portfolios. Make sure that initiatives that we roll out have value to the hotel teams and work! In the past initiatives have had wrong data/reports or other issues. Take some of the extra work of of middle management so they have time to do their actual job; supporting the specialists.

I have been working at Hilton full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most fun I've ever had at work! Our team members consistently challenge themselves and each other to being the greatest minds in Revenue Management. We work hard, but we play hard, too, with tons of recognition events, happy hours, etc. There is a large focus on training and development that you do not get in the field, and the corporate hours/holidays are nice, too.

    Cons

No place is perfect. We still have many personalities to work with, but there is a lot of support to assist with those difficult conversations.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! While we are part of a larger organization, the balance of entrepreneurial start-up spirit here and the big corporation perks make this a great place to work! Just don't let our business grow faster than our talent.

I have been working at Hilton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work life balance, amazing amount of PTO which you are encouraged to use. Fun office environment with a plethora of activities to get involved in.

    Cons

Salary is not as high as similar positions with smaller management companies. Leadership within the office can at times seem a bit disorganized or working at cross purposes.

    Advice to Management

Work to actively recruit more people with hospitality backgrounds.

    Pros

5 weeks of paid vacation after just 2 years... plus weekends and holidays! Work/Life balance is the best that I have ever had with any company.

    Cons

Once you are here your experience outside on Hilton has almost no merit when you are looking to be promoted within the company.

    Advice to Management

Take into consideration the past work experience of current employees. When have "X" years of leadership experience in the field this is a valuable experience.

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and work at home opportunity from a reputable company. Mutual respect and pride for a company that has the same high standard that I have myself.

    Cons

The virtual world makes it harder to build relationships but Hilton gives opportunity to bond on different levels.

    Advice to Management
