I have been working at Hilton Garden Inn full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The hospitality industry always keeps you on your toes. Day to day work may be the same but the guests are truly what makes the job amazing. I have worked with Hilton brands since 2009 and would not work for any other brand. Hilton is innovative, exciting, and always finding ways to improve the guest experience. Helping make our job, more rewarding.

    Cons

Honestly, the only downside is you can always count on working holidays or weekends. Because we are a 24/7 operation, you are bound to work these days that a lot of people would rather not. However, again the guests make everything worthwhile. Would I change my schedule, no way. Would I change my career path for the reason, no!

    Advice to Management

I am very excited for the changes coming for the Hilton Garden Inn. I watched the "Simple Things" video like 6 times. I think if we keep amplifying our brands, Hilton will continue to be unstoppable!

I worked at Hilton Garden Inn part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing first job. Nice environment and culture. Assistant General manager and General manager were extremely nice and friendly. You could ask them pretty much anything about the hotel and they could answer you. Front desk staff was also friendly and most weren't afraid to help out the restaurant in time of need while maintaining their duties as well. Strong systems were set in place to make tear down and prep quick (except the part of needing to polish and roll silverware). Benefits were given after a period of time. 7.25$+tips at my location. Very nice location. Machines were easy to work. POS sometimes had problems, but was easily fixed by reboot. Hours were flexible. Schedule was on a weekly basis to allow easy changes.

Overall, nice culture and environment. You weren't just someone who helped them make a profit. You were a person and you were treated like one. No one had the attitude as if they were better than someone because of their position. Customers were usually friendly and even had a couple from the neighboring neighborhoods occasionally eat there. Some people traveled for business or family, a lot, so they were pretty much regulars and they were nice. Menu was relatively small and easy to learn.

    Cons

Inside the restaurant, there were not enough servers. Training was a bit scattered. Not all servers had the drive to polish and roll silverware, so it fell on those that had no choice but to do it. Communication between servers and chefs could've been improved. Waking up at 4 in the morning isn't very pleasant (I'm just not a morning person, but if you are go for it). High turn over rate (The amount of time I was there, most of the servers were fired except me and one other). Housekeeping liked taking wet floor signs without saying anything (restaurant only noticed when needed them). Pepper shakes were easily broken and wooden woven baskets to hold silverware were a horrible choice because they were falling apart (That's nitpicking though). Maybe a plastic basket or something a little more sturdy?

    Advice to Management

Make sure everyone inside the restaurant are on the same page. Having one person serve in the morning on busy days, is not fun. Dishwasher (not the person, the machine), isn't all that great and usually left horrible spots on the glasses.
