I have been working at Hilton Grand Vacations full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Let me start by saying I rarely write reviews for anything, however I felt the need to write this one. I started working for Hilton Grand Vacations call center in Las Vegas in September 2013. I landed there after being fed up with the fly by night companies. My plan was to work in the call center for 6 months and transfer to selling timeshare. Needless to say that didn't happen. Never did I imagine working in a call center selling vacation packages could be so lucrative. My first full year in I made 80k. Not only was the money great but so were the people I worked with as well as management. You form a family bound. The company acknowledges their employees with Award Ceremonies, Dinners at 5 star restaurants. Auctions giving away thousands in merchandise from Tv's, vacations, jewelry etc. Spiffs which involved Amex and Visa gift cards. After 2 (1/2 )years, I decided to follow my passion of selling timeshare but not for Hilton. Needless to day after about 6 months and hoping from company to company the grass was not greener on the other side. I returned back to Hilton and was ecstatic about being back. I transferred to Chicago excited that Hilton had a similar position in Chicago selling same vacation packages face to face to hotel guest. Giving me the opportunity to be around family while not giving up what I absolutely loved. Had this position not been here in Chicago I would still be in Las Vegas. They don't put a cap on your earning potential so you truly create your own paycheck. The team travel program is Top Notch.

    Cons

Standing on my feet all day.

I worked at Hilton Grand Vacations full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Hilton Corporation is amazing. They truly care about every employee. There are great benefits within the corporation, including healthcare, 401k, and team travel. You also get meals at work most of the time. Every person in the hotel is very nice and want to work as a team. I enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life on staff, as well as guests. Employees/co workers are always willing to help you and work with you, which was amazing. They also give you necessary materials in order to close a deal, if you can.

    Cons

I will be upfront, you are essentially selling timeshares. Even though you are only selling preview packages, you will still get a lot of pushback. Be prepared to get a lot of no’s. You will be on your feet almost 100% of your shift. The work life balance isn’t great and unless you request a weekend off, you won’t get it, they don’t do rotation of weekends. Times are erratic. High turnover of employees. Be prepared, you will only make money if you go beyond goals, which can be hard. Do not take position if you do not feel strong in sales, or you won’t make money.

    Advice to Management

WAY more training. Especially since you have a high turnover. People will stay if you give them the proper training. I rarely saw my boss. My co workers, who work off of comission, would take time off the floor to train me(they essentially loose money, and that shouldn’t have to happen) If I would have received more training, I would have been willing to stay longer and grow. Better base pay and more of a steady schedule. Also, be more up front and say you make 60,000 if you sell a certain amount instead of making a canidiate assume.

I have been working at Hilton Grand Vacations full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing Benefits! (4 weeks worth of paid time off, 401k, health insurance, hotel stay discounts, etc.)

You have so many opportunities to move up in the company as long as you put your best foot forward. Take the online courses they offer and let your leaders know that you’re interested in certain positions.

Set 40 hour work week with plenty of opportunities to pick up over time. Overtime is never forced.

Hilton Grand Vacations is truly a family atmosphere. Everyone is kind and helpful.

Some guests can become like family. They’ll bake for you and tell you about their vacation. If you enjoy guest interaction like I do it’s a pro.

    Cons

Guests pay a lot of money to stay on property and so they expect a lot more from employees as a whole. They can be snobby and hard to deal with but that doesn’t mean everyone.

The job can get repetitive!!!! I say the same spiel every single day at least 10 times bare minimum. One day I said it 40 times.

The pay is a little lower than what I would like.

While management is often kind it can come off as fake. Supervisors are all helpful and give you space to do whatever you want to make a guest happy.

However, upper management tends to get stressed about the numbers and micromanage A LOT! While they technically give you the leeway to give money to a guest to make them happy they will question you as to why you gave it and why you deemed that amount appropriate. Again, not really the supervisors but definitely upper management. It makes you not want to credit guests who deserve it.

    Advice to Management

Please stop micromanaging. We want the quarterly bonus just as much as you. We will work hard to make the guests happy, just give us the space to do so.

I have been working at Hilton Grand Vacations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Zero micromanagement in my department. My leader believes that you’re an adult and you’re responsible for your work. So much room for growth, too! I’ve been with HGV for a year and a half and have nothing but positive things to say. Leaders on my team provide options of opportunity to go further. I’m truly blessed to have taken a chance and left my government position of 10 years for the risk of corporate world. I’m thankful to have found HGV and all that they do for the employees. Love bagel/donut Friday’s, half days prior to a holiday, and of course the awesome hotel perks. For the first time in my life, I look forward to my work day. The office positivity makes it a great place to be!

    Cons

Really have nothing negative to say. Insurance policies are a little high, but likely comparable to others in corporate world.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!
