I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People take their job seriously but not themselves. That truly sets our culture apart from other consulting firms.

    Cons

Mixed sentiments about the 'Hitachi' brand. It carries a big weight nevertheless.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hire excellent college graduates and promote from within when possible.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company work culture is great. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I personally enjoyed the challenge and exposure that came with the job. From day 1, I was deployed at a client's office, and worked very closely with the client.

    Cons

There is a chance of getting pigeonholed in a particular project, or in particular types of projects. Not all projects require core consulting skills: it is a fair mix of consulting and technical implementations. Sometimes the career reviews do not provide enough visibility on the improvement areas.

    Advice to Management

The career review process should be made more transparent. Also, once the employee has spent a year at a particular client's location, he/she should be provided with the option to switch projects, if there are projects in the pipeline.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Amazing people. Lots of opportunity.

    Cons

Switching strategy to be more solutions oriented, unsure what this means to my day to day.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider performance and incentives. I have been a high performer in the past.. Earning 4s and 5s... But having a hard time being incentivized to overperform here. It seems the band of expectations for a 3 are so wide, it's not worth the extra effort to push yourself only to find that you are still a 3. You can do the bare minimum and still meet expectations, I don't feel incentivized here and worry I will get too comfortable.

    Pros

    Pros
Met some great good people, some good couches and superb consultants but most of them are gone now in the last nine months.

Some good opportunities to gain responsabilities from, management is approachable, but not understanding.

    Cons

Compensation is not competitive compared with other firms, large shift, not as flexible as you may expect when asking for vacations. May find from time to time some harassement in the work environment by an unethical project manager.

This is a good company, with good people, challenging clients, a lot of opportunity to make your own path.. but as the company is aggressively growing work demands and expectations have gone up, but compensation has not...

    Advice to Management

Great advice comes from many sources.

    Pros

Number one reason that I am still here is primarily because of the people around you. The employees and co-workers on the project accounts are a very fun group and extremely talented and hard-working.

    Cons

The salary is a joke. The recently new shift to a national model has major implications for the current employee base. Too aggressive of a model to become the next Deloitte or Accenture.

    Advice to Management

Compensation and bonuses should reflect industry standards, HC is way below the norm and their be;ow avg. salary bands are what is making talented individuals leave for better paying positions...

    Pros

Good brand association due to the Parent company.

    Cons

Lack of a growth strategy, declining market share, acquisitions are a disaster since the acquired teams are completely neglected.

    Advice to Management

Its about time to realize and embrace globalization to stay competitive & expand operations.
