I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People are all pretty great to work with
New solutions are going to be great
    Relationship with Hitachi limited
Leadership is generally very appreciative of hard work

    Cons

Transitioning to a new solutions company is tougher than expected
Internal (non-client facing) employees are over-worked with promises of support but none coming
Pushing a lot of the work to India - where it's not handled very well so it ends up just being double work

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My peers and project leadership were wonderful
The projects were engaging and allowed me to stretch beyond a typical undergrad role

    Cons

The shift to a Global Solutions Company has been painful, and frankly, poorly led. The company is quickly losing valuable employees who can easily find comparable roles with better pay and more stability

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This company provides an opportunity for everyone, at every level to lead. When you work here you'll be surrounded by some of the smartest, most highly capable professionals in professional services. There are lots of opportunities to work
and collaborate directly with leadership and the women in leadership positions are absolutely amazing.

    Cons

The change in strategic direction has made the climate chaotic and anxious. The decision to move to virtual offices and close offices added to the sense of doom and insecurity.

Hard work and dedication isn't readily recognized and rewarded, which is a shame and is turning the culture and spirit of the workforce sour and defeated.

    Advice to Management

Heart is in the right place but take a moment to hear what your workforce is saying so you can stop the exodus before you lose your people and your way.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great People
    Good Culture
Good work life balance, better than other firms
    Decent compensation
Decent growth and opportunity for advancement
Fun, albeit a bit forced, culture

    Cons

Tedious and Unclear Annual Review Process
Sink or Swim environment, not too harsh but you've got to be a driven individual to succeed
Having a good mentor is somewhat luck based

    Advice to Management

Divert some resources to internal mentoring; fully staffed employees have trouble kicking off and then maintaining initiatives while keeping work life balance. Or allocate some billable hours and get successful employees willing to cooperate to dedicate some time to it. A vague promise of it positively impacting annual performance reviews isn't enough to encourage sacrificing dozens of hours personal time to organize material, logistics, and cut through red tape.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time

    Pros

Dynamic and energetic CEO and Leadership Team
    Support from Hitachi Ltd.
Hitachi Ltd. has a tremendous engineering background and lots of interesting intellectual property

    Cons

    Operating model is constantly changing
Executives don't have a specific enough plan for executing the strategy

    Advice to Management

Build a very specific plan for transformation. Decide if you are going to be a consulting or solution business and take the necessary actions to transform the business. If you are a solution business you need to burn the consulting boats.
