    Pros

Overall Hitachi Consulting is a great company to work for with a lot of growth if you are willing to work for it. This is a place that is great for new ideas.

    Cons

Promotions currently are set on a time scale attribute for lower level employees but this is changing currently.

    Pros

Compensation for good performers makes you feel appreciated.
Given more responsibility sooner, which helps you grow faster.
Project Managers try and provide work life balance

    Cons

Career advisor program could be more robust. Would like to see leadership take a more active role in developing new talent.
Need better training. Elearning courses do not provide adequate training.

    Advice to Management

Overall a great place to work. I see myself staying here for the foreseeable future. Invest more in the training and mentoring of your employees.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large variety of projects from IT to management consulting to public sector. You have a lot of sway in the types of projects you work on so this keeps things from getting boring.

Great benefits when travelling. Really a great opportunity for young college grads if you don't mind flying out of state every week. Consulting can be very fun work.

Most of HCC's clients are big names in their respective industries so if you decide to leave the firm at some point in the future you'll have loads of great experience on your resume.

The culture here is relaxed but still professional. Compared to other firms there is less of a cut-throat, high-stress vibe but it is still consulting. You can tell most employees really enjoy their job.

While the firm is part of the mammoth conglomerate that is Hitachi you feel like you're only in a medium sized company since the consulting division is separate from the rest of Hitachi. You get benefits of being in a huge company (including big name recognition on your resume) but without feeling like a number.

Work life balance here is surprisingly not bad.I fly home on Thursday and have enough energy on the weekend to have a social life!

    Cons

Not all the project work is glamorous. My projects have alternated between being boring at times to very stimulating and exciting... not a whole lot of middle ground I've noticed.

If you're not good at networking with your colleagues and superiors withing the firm you will have a hard time succeeding.

A disproportionate amount of the work is IT consulting so if you come in with a marketing degree or something non-technical you will have a harder time. Both of these factor into getting first choice on which project you get assigned to (i.e. who gets to go to London or Tokyo vs. who gets to go to Missouri or Iowa)

While the pay seems great to someone fresh out of school it is still lower than many of the big players in the consulting industry.

    Pros

This company is everything you could want in a first job. I was debating between a few offers and took this because of the holistic exposure I would gain and the opportunity to learn. The culture here is unlike any and it's a dream job for a first job out of college. The leadership takes you under their wing and mentors you voluntarily. There are endless opportunities to shine. I will thrive here.

    Cons

    There are no cons.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Interesting projects

    Growing company

    Solid compensation & benefits

Leadership is responsive to suggestions from employees

    Cons

Professional services environment with all of the attending challenges (travel, utilization expectations, etc.)

The company has grown rapidly which naturally means that over time the culture has changed.

    Advice to Management

Continue providing a career path for employees

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are all very kind and casual, everyone I've worked with has a can-do attitude, the work-life balance is paramount and they allow you the time to tend to your own life when needed, the on-the-job learning is unmatched

    Cons

HCC has trouble retaining entry-level consultants through the manager level, many leave because of pay increases elsewhere, not much pre-scripted training and much of your career is self led.

    Advice to Management

Give pay increases and added responsibility to SC level employees, ask more delivery of your VP levels, not all sales. Maybe reduce the number of VPs on staff.
