I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time

    Pros

I am glad I got to go through the ups and down of working at Hitachi. At the end of it, I came out with a much elevated work profile at my next gig, and I credit the projects/people that I got exposed to while at Hitachi Consulting. It wasn’t great all the time time, but show me a company that’s consistently ‘great’ and I’ll show you a pony with a rainbow tail.
Anyway, it got very challenging at times to meet the demands of the project, be it workload or just a brand new set of technology/people challenges. I had to work 14-15 hr days and be on constant travel for a long time. While I didn’t mind the work so much (depending on the PM/project team, you have your Friday’s pretty wide open), I got tired of the travel.
Overall, my feelings were mixed while I was working there, I now feel more favorable towards it.

    Cons

Pay structure needs to be customized, as I noticed that promotions were widely based on tenure, not talent. The CAs (Career Advisors) have no skin in the game regards to the progress of the Advisee, so, if you happen to get a low energy CA, you’re going to be behind than your peers. Not all CAs are the same, there needs to be a mechanism to hold them accountable for their respective advisee growth in all areas.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My peers and project leadership were wonderful
The projects were engaging and allowed me to stretch beyond a typical undergrad role

    Cons

The shift to a Global Solutions Company has been painful, and frankly, poorly led. The company is quickly losing valuable employees who can easily find comparable roles with better pay and more stability

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This company provides an opportunity for everyone, at every level to lead. When you work here you'll be surrounded by some of the smartest, most highly capable professionals in professional services. There are lots of opportunities to work
and collaborate directly with leadership and the women in leadership positions are absolutely amazing.

    Cons

The change in strategic direction has made the climate chaotic and anxious. The decision to move to virtual offices and close offices added to the sense of doom and insecurity.

Hard work and dedication isn't readily recognized and rewarded, which is a shame and is turning the culture and spirit of the workforce sour and defeated.

    Advice to Management

Heart is in the right place but take a moment to hear what your workforce is saying so you can stop the exodus before you lose your people and your way.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay was good.
    My boss was great.
    Good insurance
Good training for entry level hires.
    Nice office in the city.
Good parties each quarter, after status meeting.

    Cons

No culture. More like hired guns running in different directions.
I didn't think the org was focused on employees experience/retention.
The Dallas office has most of the staff. Other office's projects get staffed with people Dallas is unwilling to fire.

    Advice to Management

Survey your employees and ask them what they need. Manage bad performers out. It will improve the culture.
