I worked at Hitachi Consulting (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a job for which I received a paycheck.

    Cons

I found it to be an extremely toxic environment. Common phrase used was that this was a "churn and burn" culture. I preferred to work in a strong team culture, which is why I decided to move on to another company.

Work life balance is attainable here. Not a cutthroat environment. Easy to get in.

    Cons

Not a Tier 1 or Tier 2 consulting firm.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting (More than a year)

    Pros

Variety of work - You can work for clients in a range of industries
Travel - You get to travel all around the country (can flex on the weekends to different locations)
Colleagues - People genuinely want you to succeed

    Cons

Lack of ability to pick projects
Skill set mismatch - You might be placed on projects that have nothing to do with your skills, experience, or interests
Hours - Depending on the project and deadlines, you might work 60+ hours (however 45 hours is the norm)
Pay - Pay is slightly below the industry (the company is working on improving the situation with quarterly bonuses)

    Advice to Management

Improve feedback mechanism and offer better options to select projects that fit with career aspirations.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time

    Pros

    1. Employee friendly management.
    2. Better compensation structure compared to peer companies.
    3. Transparency
    4. Inherited brand name from parent company.
    5. Focus on social innovation.
    6. Less variables.
    7. Flexible work timing policy.
    8. Better leave structure.

    Cons

    1. Discrimination (if you move from one competency to another.)
    2. Holidays/Weekend works will be unpaid, its a nightmare to get your genuine dues paid. HR will come up with all sort of policies so that extra efforts put by the employee will only benefit company rather than passing some benefits to the regular employees.
    3. PTOs will be unpaid for lead and above, so all your accumulated leaves will go in vein (If you will leave the company).
    4. Inconsistency in company mission/vision.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time

    Pros

The strategy is solid. Hitachi Consulting has a unique position as the only full service, diversified professional services company with the ability to bring to bear a multitude of cutting edge products produced by it's parent company, Hitachi Ltd. Relative to it's traditional competition, it is a smaller high-growth company. There is tremendous opportunity for employees at all levels as it embarks on transforming itself from a main-line, project based consultancy to a solutions oriented company.

    Cons

Transformation is hard. There are ups and downs inherent with that process, which requires a lot of flexibility and adaptability from people in the organization. There are also a lot of people who have been with the company for many years that have left, and it is always difficult to lose people with whom you have built long-term successful relationships.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. Continue to increase communication to the organization. This has increased positively over the last six months. Remember to think about all of the internal stakeholder groups and tailor communications to each group's unique needs.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great People and offices. The individuals I worked with had a lot of ambition and good ideas and were very welcoming

    Cons

Questionable ability to execute higher level vision or strategy during acquisition phase of multiple recent acquisitions

    Advice to Management

have a stronger acquisition strategy and smarter integration approach. The over all concept I saw were sound, but the day to day incentives to integrate and the execution of such plan was not followed through well. This impacted the ability to achieve a successful integration of purchased companies.
