    Pros

    Health benefits and work schedule

    Cons

Limited clarity of roles and responsibilities, low based salary and no bonus, lack of understanding of the operations management consulting model (including what it takes to achieve results/deliverables)

    Advice to Management

You destroyed our Celerant culture...and probably forgot that a Consulting company success is heavily depended on the people.

    Pros

Had a positive interview experience and was offered a position

    Cons

Was offered a position in November of 2015, during my senior year of college. Offered outstanding pay and a great package. Then, a week before my start date in 2016, they moved my start date back by 5(!!) months. It was a massive blow and screwed up my whole moving situation more than I can explain. Then, about a month later, they called to say that I no longer had a position AT ALL. I had spent almost a year of my life waiting for this position, then I got the rug pulled out from underneath me. They gave me a lame explanation about financial trouble, referred me to a placement service, and cut off all contact. I have never felt more betrayed and upset in my life.
Now, I have spent months trying to find jobs and can't find anything even close to what they offered me.

    Advice to Management

Show your new hires some respect

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some genuinely good people working here that are trying to serve the clients.

    Cons

Seem to treat employees as disposable, with a blatant disregard for keeping their word. If you are working here and travelling, make sure you stop travelling before you give notice - it has been several months and I still have not received expense reimbursement for travel on my last week there, and it is impossible to get anyone who seems to care.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like they are disposable. There has been a huge amount of turnover, and much of that is because they don't trust your intentions.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Getting out of here real soon...Can't wait to align myself with a real company

    Cons

Company is moving to solution based, but lack the vision to get there. Lost some good clients and accounts, hired a bunch of Core Consultants but didn't have work for them to do so they fired them. Many good people have been fired or quit on their own, but if you're good at sucking up to management, you'd be safe.

    Advice to Management

Get together and come up with a strategy to move forward or hire people that are capable to lead.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time

    Pros

    - Good starting ground for new consultants to learn the ropes and get some experience under their belts
    - Pay is great for new graduates with no experience
    - Flexible schedule to do what you need to do
    - You get to work with a lot of intelligent people
    - As core, you have the opportunity to work with people in your own age group
    - VP level really cares and emphasizes open door policy
    - Vacation policy is flexible, allowing you to "borrow" time

    Cons

    - Horrible communication from corporate down and between all levels in the office
    - Layoffs in October 2016 created a distrustful environment
    - Performance review is subjective to manager opinion - not necessarily based on merit or performance
    - Managers and above can be immature, unprofessional, petty, and ill-equipped to be in a leadership role
    - Promotions are lock step, there's no leeway to accommodate for consultants who go above and beyond their job requirements in between annual review
    - Functional consultants are either underutilized in personal secretary roles or overworked to replace managers - with barely any opportunity to expand their technical skills
    - Core consultants are not compensated in pay or title when forced into manager level roles after one leaves (with no intention from leadership for replacing the manager)
    - Barely any women in technical leadership roles
    - Pay is not comparable to other firms
    - Extremely high turnover in all levels (including VPs)
    - Certain projects have an old boys club mentality which breeds a toxic and abusive environment
    - Limited opportunity to be creative or think outside the box - more of a "do as you're told, they way that I want" culture
    - Work doesn't always promote best practices, just whatever gets the job done
    - The projects available don't reflect the skills of the consultants they hired
    - Not enough managers and above to create a mentorship culture
    - Company culture is dependent on younger consultants, with little to no participation from managers and above

    Advice to Management

Your employees need to feel appreciated. Being underpaid is just one aspect of dissatisfaction. They need to feel engaged in the work their doing, have the chance to use their intelligence, work in a professional, respectful, and collaborative environment, and also know that there is room for upward movement for their career. People leave after two years because there's no where to go but out.

Give your leadership proper management training. Being an SME doesn't always translate into being a good leader that's capable of supporting and fostering new consultants in the field.

Transparency and honest talk will help mend the distrust. Giving a plethora numbers and reports does not equal transparency. Sending executive leadership to host "straight talk" who end up speaking "consultantese" does more damage than good.

Be specific about your hiring. The core program was a good idea in theory but there aren't enough projects to go around, and not enough managers to teach.
