    1. Medium size company - hard work will be noticed and rewarded
    2. Has a specific growth path

    Pros

    Pay was good.
    My boss was great.
    Good insurance
Good training for entry level hires.
    Nice office in the city.
Good parties each quarter, after status meeting.

    Cons

No culture. More like hired guns running in different directions.
I didn't think the org was focused on employees experience/retention.
The Dallas office has most of the staff. Other office's projects get staffed with people Dallas is unwilling to fire.

    Advice to Management

Survey your employees and ask them what they need. Manage bad performers out. It will improve the culture.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The great thing about Hitachi Consulting USED to be the people but unfortunately the between leadership not supporting revenue generating practices and eventually shutting them down and great people leaving or getting fired. It's like a ghost town.

    Cons

The Executive Leadership Team and their lack of focus. Putting all their energy in a new strategy while completely abandoning what made Hitachi work instead of a phased approach over a period of time is a rookie mistake.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. You have to understand the business you want to be in in order to be successful. Good luck. So sad to see the ruins that are left of what a great company.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time

    Pros

Loved the people and the collaboration. Great ability to bring in talented new hires from campus recruiting. Still a good amount of tenure at senior manager and above ranks.

    Cons

They are putting more emphasis on pre-packaged solutions - which is not in my wheelhouse of functional and traditional management skill. The functional team I had been on was decimated by restructuring and attrition over time with no evidence of investing in it's regrowth. Weekly travel to long term assignments grows tiresome, little business other than single client in my home market.

    Advice to Management

The new CEO is taking the company in a different direction - it either works for their existing employees, or they go elsewhere. I think they are ok with that.

    Pros

    Amazing people. Lots of opportunity.

    Cons

Switching strategy to be more solutions oriented, unsure what this means to my day to day.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider performance and incentives. I have been a high performer in the past.. Earning 4s and 5s... But having a hard time being incentivized to overperform here. It seems the band of expectations for a 3 are so wide, it's not worth the extra effort to push yourself only to find that you are still a 3. You can do the bare minimum and still meet expectations, I don't feel incentivized here and worry I will get too comfortable.

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good base of very able consultants- mostly graduate level, lots of energy and positivity. Lack of blame culture and an encouraging environment in which to work.

    Cons

Tends to be a 'blowfish' company- lands a big deal, then takes on a lot of contractors to satisfy it. Also fairly high turnover- many grads stay for a couple of years then move on

    Advice to Management

Work on retention of promising graduates to allow them to move up the career ladder within Hitachi, as opposed to going out and looking for other options.

    Interesting projects

    Growing company

    Solid compensation & benefits

Leadership is responsive to suggestions from employees

    Cons

Professional services environment with all of the attending challenges (travel, utilization expectations, etc.)

The company has grown rapidly which naturally means that over time the culture has changed.

    Advice to Management

Continue providing a career path for employees
