I have been working at Hitachi Data Systems full-time

    Pros

In general, the people are good and nice to work with. 401K benefits amongst the best as they need something to replace lack of stock.
    Good career growth opportunities.
They will pay new employees well, but once you are in, unless you are a very high performer or get promoted, there will be no raises.

    Cons

Experience varies greatly depending on the group you are in. Some groups are great, others terrible. If you are fortunate enough to get into the right team, it could be pleasant. There are a lot of cut backs happening, no raises, lots of layoffs.
A lot of long term employees and management that don't want to change their ways, want things to go back to good old days...
Lot of friction between various groups, duplicate efforts, and very political environment.

    Advice to Management

You know where we need to go, accelerate our journey to that destination. Make sure new growth areas have adequate investment. Replace those in management who are not willing to adapt and change.

I have been working at Hitachi Data Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you are in the right team then you'll be fine. There are some really good managers. If you have one of those they can make your professional life better.

    Cons

Lots of layoffs have been happening in small waves for more than 6 months now with no end in sight.

    Advice to Management

More communications are needed. Need to be sincere and open. Too many people are worried about the future.

I worked at Hitachi Data Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Santa Clara office has a gym that is free to use for anyone that works there. They really stress working on your physical health as well as working on your professional responsibilities. It's always nice to sneak to the gym during lunch and lose a couple calories. Good work life balance that way.

    Cons

Nothing is perfect. There are good teams and managers within this company, but there are also bad ones. If you are unfortunate enough to get a bad one then it'll be very difficult to stay positive in that environment. There are a lot of lay offs happening recently and the moral has been shaken due to that. A lot of employees are worried and scared of what's ahead.

Also, can be very hierarchical. If you are on the lower end of management levels, it is looked down upon when you talk to higher management.
