I have been working at Hobart Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

management is great, adequate training and support, not competitive, not to demanding on time, O.T if you want it. Company supplies everything you need. good benefits

    Cons

dispatcher isn't very good, administrative staff not very friendly, ON-Call monthly, pay is a little low for the rates they charge customers, very difficult work because they want you to work on everything and not just one specialty.

    Advice to Management

monitor performance of office staff, and give them corrective measures and if they don't change the dismiss them as techs are regularly.

I have been working at Hobart Service full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Still diverse even with considerable consolidation.

    Cons

Work the numbers to the determent of the people. Hire from out side, doesn't promote from the ranks. Looks to number crunchers for direction instead of the talent and years of experience form with in. As was indicated in another post looking for millennials and shelf the people who have dedicated a career to the company. I could go on.

    Advice to Management

You have forgotten the customer (who are people) and forgotten your employees (who are people) and only manage the numbers while both your customers and your employees suffer. No wonder our customers see no value in our service over that of our competitors.

    Advice to Management

help your employees to exceed instead of constant threat of losing your job unless you outperform other employees

    Pros

Taking time off for vacation was easy. Company vehicle and gas card.

    Cons

Worst owner you could have. Owner caught stealing from company, employees and customers.

    Advice to Management

Stop being a crook. Stop being a crook. Stop being a crook. Stop being a crook. That's a start.

I worked at Hobart Service full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was good, but you get paid for putting up with a lot of insults. It also was to cover some of the poor benefits.

    Cons

Over controlling, OCD to the max. The owner needs medication and therapy. The office atmosphere was suffocating. I dreaded going to work everyday. Life is too short to live like that.

    Advice to Management

Realize that motivation isn't a kick in the gut.

I have been working at Hobart Service full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

9-5 job with 9-5 mentality. Office is a ghost town by 5:30pm. Hobart is the market leader but quickly losing share. Complacency is acceptable. Sometimes they even sell ground beef from the test labs in 5 lb. blocks.

    Cons

There are many future pensioners that are extremely protectionist. New thinking is discouraged. Idealists, social entreprise leaders and recent graduates do NOT FIT in here. Hobart is weak in the global marketplace and has failed to adapt product line to emerging markets. They have been banking on their market leadership to take them through the next decade. Troy is not a place to attract an educated talent pool interested in diving into international competition.

    Advice to Management

Diversity - you need this but it should be INCLUSION. Your managers are a homogeneous group and that is a weakness.

Sustainability - This should not be on the website. Start by recycling paper in your offices. There is an index that tracks this for Dow stocks and you will not be able keep up.

Website & Social media - Outdated and missing a lot of relevant information.

Release more than 1 product in 5 years in every group or you will get crushed. End of life on legacy equipment-- its called planned obsolescence and it works. Cease supporting 20 year old products on the secondary market its a lost cause.

Get a real orientation program and have it organized day one. Move out of Troy, OH it is not attractive to millennials. Don't have remote leadership.

Learn to tap local universities for interns to handle cyclical workload increases. Train your managers.

    Pros

Good group of people to work with. Generally a good work environment. Very flexible as far as vacation (though limited amounts each year) and personal time. Balanced work/life. Benefits package and wellness incentives get better each year. Safety is a common goal. Amazing name recognition in the industry. Consistent year over year growth. Overall a solid company.

    Cons

    Dated work location in Troy.
