I worked at Hobby Lobby full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great schedule as far as retail goes. Off every Sunday, off every other weekend, the latest night other than the Holiday Season usually ends at 8:30pm. Good 15% discount. Benefits are average, so no complaints their. Good opportunity for advancement. This company also isn't one of those "customer is always right" companies. The DM pretty much ignored most of the complaints customers called in. Very basic as far as the priorities: appearance, wages, in stock, profit. Not even really pressed for sales. Keep those four things in line and you'll do fine.

    Cons

The work is physical, so don't expect a desk job. 15% office work, the other 85% is on the floor. That's actually a good thing for some, but not usual for this size retail establishment. There's a saying that "if you don't touch it at least 8 times before you sell it then you're doing something wrong" that you should keep in mind. We moved a lot of things over and over again, and that's the program. Just like any company, there are always a few people you'll meet that don't reflect the values preached by the company as far as fairness and Christianity. Very tight on payroll, but that's retail.

    Advice to Management

Think of all the money you'd save if we didn't touch everything so many times.

    Pros

Closed on Sundays and major holidays, nice coworkers

    Cons

I worked at Hobby Lobby part-time

    Pros

    Sundays off
    Easy Work
Off on Major holidays and close early for the rest
Close at 8pm (besides holiday hours)

    Cons

    Rats, cockroaches, and crickets
    can get boring
sometimes not enough people working at once to cover each department

    Advice to Management

Schedule people fairly. Some people saw major cuts to their hours while others continued to get good hours. some people never close AT ALL, while there are some who always have to close.

I have been working at Hobby Lobby full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent hours for retail and closed Sundays. Full time employees in my store get every other Saturday off. Easy, mindless job. Pays well.

    Cons

Some departments such as seasonal, products get moved about 5 times. You are constantly touching the same stuff and putting it In a different spot. It's mindless and boring. No challenge at all.

    Advice to Management

Try to come up with a plan that allows employees to feel as if what they do matters.
