I worked at Hobson Associates full-time
Great "initial" training. Senior management will lift you up initially, but this is temporary.
Absentee management. They claim to have the best training program, but you're lucky if you get consistent feedback. It may feel great during your first few months, but then feedback becomes random and inconsistent and your "sink or swim". High levels of employee favoritism, don't plan on management liking you unless you're consistently brown nosing. You're very much expendable to senior management. They think the rookie recruiters are "entitled" and therefore don't deserve a weighted opinion. Senior staff just cares that you're billing to make THEM money.
ASK VERY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING EMPLOYMENT. While working there, all of the rookie recruiters were told we'd be W2ing 70-80K during our first year if we'd made three placements. Most of us at least doubled this in placements and didn't see a single commission check. They will sell you on the rich lifestyle of how much money you can make, which is total 1234. Not a single rookie recruiter earned over the draw at the time of their first year.
Management doesn't take the time to explain basics like PTO and how much the benefits are 1234 and when you do request to use it it's frowned upon and they tell you that you'll be making so much money that you won't have to worry about how unfortunate their benefits are. If you're not working around the clock and then going home and continuing to work/plan, good luck. God forbid you schedule a doctor apt that's not first thing in the morning or at the end of the day, you're again on the management 1234 list. Just within a year of working there I saw over 6 staff either resign or be laid off. They typically lay you off around your one year mark if you aren't billing a certain amount for them, so be prepared.
Get ready for micromanagement like you've NEVER experienced. Management will be consistently up your 123. If you don't have planned calls to be on the phone for 2 hours + and make 50+ phone calls, be ready to explain yourself. If you don't make 50 calls one day, you'd better plan on staying past 5 to get them in or you'll have an unpleasant morning the next day. They don't care about the quality or efficiency of the phone call, but how many calls you make and you get varying feedback on how the call should be.
Not somewhere you want to work for a long period of time. If you're interested in recruiting, take in the training as they feed to you (which is random and inconsistent), and then get the 1234 out of there.
Advice to Management
Pull your head out of your 12345...Time to adopt a more realistic business model because yours clearly doesn't work or satisfy your recruiters. The "tenure" you claim to have is from your senior partners who are trapped there. You can't open your eyes to see that you have an employee retention problem. They have literally said out loud "it's a revolving door". And stop complaining about the dissatisfaction of your recruiters when you're laying off someone new every other week and then bringing in 4 new staff the next week. No matter how hard you try to keep the negativity conserved, it'll always be there because at the end of the day, most of the senior management are 1234 and could care less if you're still working there at the end of the day. NOT MILLENIAL FRIENDLY.
