I worked at Hofstra University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Do homework at work; free access to cable TV; lots of time to yourself; many empty shifts

    Cons

Pay is federal minimum wage ($7.25); scheduling a replacement can be a nightmare; high turnover rate; can be boring

    Advice to Management

Offer pay raises - even 25 cents a semester - to feel like you're getting something more out of staying at the job.

I worked at Hofstra University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent Pay, Flexible Hours, great people to work with

    Cons

Since it is part time, you are chastised if you cant come in for some medical emergency.

    Advice to Management

Relax with the reply all emails to everyone who works at the swim center. We all get the same emails and when you blatantly complain about your staff the morale shoots way down.

I worked at Hofstra University part-time

    Pros

Working for Hofstra University was practical and convenient. I worked with one professor from the psychology department who helped me through the basic steps of research.

    Cons

On the other hand, I believe the psychology department did not have enough funding for undergraduate research assistants. Therefore, the compensation was very low for the amount of work required.
