Pros
Great company with growth opportunities
Cons
None that are worth it
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Great benefits and immediate first full month of employment.
Cons
Like the song says "drop it like its hot" and that's what they do! Without any notice or opportunity to correct any mistakes, known or unknown. Terminated for "performance" which no one ever eluded to any issues or concerns. Uncovered several mistakes by other employees. Thinking you're doing right by telling someone about the mistake can get you terminated. Acting to protect the integrity of the company by NOT overlooking safety issues will get you terminated. Keeping up with workload and multiple responsibilities in addition to the learning curve is not granted any more time than 80-89 days. That way the company can terminate you within the 90 day clause without any legal action. Absolutely no dedication in this company except for the ones there for many years, can't lay them off for fear of a lawsuit. They dump all the heavy workload on the new employees at every angle just to see if a person can tolerate that behavior. Document, document, document so that you're covered if they come at your for performance issues. Be sure you print off that documentation because you may need it.

Pros
great pay and benefits with ability to travel and meet new people and see new processes.
Cons
lack of communication, back doored with loss of job. Was informed I would be touring new location with senior environmental, and instead was met by HR and Environmental to be told the position was not in alignment with future needs post company buy out and transition to Holcim.

Bad management
Apr 20, 2023 - Front End Loader in Castle Rock, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good batch man and hr
Cons
They will fire you for almost anything you never know if today will be your last day but if you kiss butt and make nice with the right people maybe you'll be a teacher's pet but I wouldn't count on it honestly. It pays okay but job security is not there and that is what's important too me and too a lot of people trying to provide for there families

Pros
*Benefits are great, *Company at a corporate level is interested in retention, *Maternity and paternity leave offered, *Tuition assistance for continuing education, *Some corporate positions are remote-eligible
Cons
*Management at the site-level has ZERO interest in employee retention, rapidly going through numerous people in the same positions without change, *Pay is often far under market, *Site-level personnel are expected to work increasingly long hours are made to work well outside of their job descriptions, *Bonuses and raises are seldom at promised levels and are sometimes cancelled for certain employees altogether, *Safety at the site-level is a priority only when an issue arises, then it's the employee's fault for not taking more precautions, *Regional and Site-Level Management incentivizes employees to not report injuries, *Site-level personnel will often have offered perks and benefits revoked without notice and without reason, *Certain people in certain positions are allowed company vehicles, but just because your predecessor had one and everyone else with your job title has one doesn't mean you get one too. *Don't accept anybody's word on any subject, always get everything in writing. *Job descriptions and interview answers have little resemblance to the actual position responsibilities.

Decent Local Employer
Apr 21, 2023 - Cement Technician in Bloomsdale, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good people, good culture. Health insurance, 401k, and such aren't bad. Starting with prorated vacation makes it easier to take the chance and try the job out. Company does provide quite a few things that make life nicer, from specialty tools to keurig coffee.
Cons
Pay could be better, schedule could be better. Not a lot of room for advancement and the personal role advancement is tedious and includes signing up for classes that may only be given a few times a year and conflict with your schedule, although lower level management typically does what they can to help.

Used to be good.

It has Flexible time off.
Cons
Bad management who won't work with you. (My way or highway mentality) Low wages for what is competitive now a days. They promise a steady schedule but will change it all the time. Sometimes weekly. Management will only fix things that when it starts to inconvenience them and not when the problems starts and will then blame you for things when you told them it would cause a problem. They are starting to have a high turnover rate because of a lot of these issues.

Pros
Good Company to work for. Good healthcare program and 401K. You get holidays off and with the floating days plus your vacation time.
Cons
Lack of ambition for the Houston region. Eventually it was bought out.

Toxic work environment
Mar 9, 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Denver, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits including 401k, health insurance. Compensation was ok, but just know if you’re salary that you will be expected to work at least 50 hours a week without overtime.
Cons
Very little diversity in the workplace, especially among management. They are always short staffed in every department, and had a difficult time keeping new employees. The amount of training received was very minimal and they expect a lot out of new employees. High stress environment and management does not back employees at all with any customer issues. Management never addressed issues that brought up and always had an excuse for issues.
- Current Employee, more than 8 years★★★★★
Pros
Company has fair pay and benefits
Cons
Short staffed at every location No work life balance
