I have been working at Holiday Inn Express full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You'd experience this most during the slow season. 1-5 check ins, and you're working 3-11. Once the boss, housekeeping, and maintenance leave, you're in charge. It can get entertaining

    Cons

Guests. Bad guests are never fun.

    Advice to Management

Employee > Client. Take care of them, they'll take care of your customer.

    Cons

If you can't come in to work you need to find someone to cover your shift. You can't just call in.

    Advice to Management

Be available when an employee needs assistance.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Working at the Holiday Inn Express in Adrian, MI was an overall great experience! In my time there my experience was very positive. The management is friendly and very approachable. Other coworkers were mostly good. During shift I answer phone calls, set up reservations, check people in and out, respond to guest inquiries, clean, do security checks and work on laundry during downtime.

    Cons

Little to no chances for overtime.
Due to the small amount of staff, there is really no moving up in the company unless you have a degree in business management or hospitality, but even then it will take several years.

Overall the job is great and would be a great job for someone young with a history in customer service. Not a job to support a family with, but good for a single person who needs a job.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for all the help! I know that I am a much better person having worked here. Working here taught me a lot of principles and values that will aid me in all aspects of my life.

    Pros

This hotel brand is great way to get your feet in the door of the hotel industry

    Cons

The brand standards are tough, and Holiday Inn Express's are franchised

    Advice to Management

Try to keep your head on straight, remember you have to do what is best for the company first then what's best for your employees, and don't make it hard on yourself.
