I have been working at Holiday Retirement full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A very large Company with many Levels. Good Benefit package. Our residents, families and associates. Dedication of those associates.

    Cons

Not much on promotion from within. Regionals are COLD to associates and use a lot of double talk. Co has lost it's core value of Compassion for Residents. It is better to retain residents and not price them out of their homes.
Company needs to not let so many really good trained folks leave .. Retain the good managers with tenure and that know the pressures of operating the Community. Consistency is very important and it is not where it need to be.
Now the Flex program is gone and the CTL program will mean more pressure on the team doing 2 jobs.... something will suffer.

    Advice to Management

The new GM/AGM/OM program is a good decision. However, slow down and listen to the residents who are moving out... you need to keep a overnight concierge on site for peace of mind of the residents and families who came to a Holiday community for security and safety. This overnight person can have some cleaning duties and some paperwork as well as availability for residents issues.
Take the time to Listen. Lily has a good vision, but losing so many top people at such a crucial, pivotal time in this Co. may sink this large ship !

I have been working at Holiday Retirement full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Best job I've ever had, hands down!! Working with seniors is so rewarding! Truly feel blessed to work here!! They promote from within first. They truly want you to succeed!! Yes, people, it's a business, they are not a non profit organization so stop your whining and maybe you'd actually enjoy your job!!! I love it here!!!!

    Cons

Only real con to me is I'm on my feet all day! Otherwise, it's awesome. It's a corporate business and those that bash this company obviously don't understand that.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!!!

    Cons

Physical job, not for someone who can't handle a fast paced work enviorment.

    Pros

    Our residents!
    Company ethics, benefits.
Nearly 6 yr management employee. Love my job!

    Cons

There have been many changes and probably more on the way. We all need to hang tight and express our ideas as we feel are needed.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within when at all possible. Reward long-term employees.

    Pros

I have worked at several other retirement managements but Holiday for me is the best. Plenty of opportunity to grow. The residents are wonderful, I love each and every one of them. My plans are to stay here until I retire myself. Got the opportunity to speak one on one with Lilly, CEO, what a great woman! Her heart is so filled with love for all of Holiday residents (and associates)...who wouldn't follow her direction. Keep up the great job Lilly!

    Cons

2016 was difficult with all the changes that came at once. But as things settle down it is starting to make sense. High sales push - but you need that to keep your building full. The life balance hasn't come my way yet but I'm trying hard to get there.

    Advice to Management

Be sensitive as we all make these changes some of us adapt quicker than others.

I have been working at Holiday Retirement (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with seniors is the most rewarding job! I am happy to see they are looking for Quality managers. The company is now trusting the communities to run their business.

    Cons

A lot of changes too quickly. I understand that some of them had a timeframe in which they had to be complete, but it was a lot at once.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the people in the field.

I worked at Holiday Retirement full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -- Pay was good
-- People were thoughtful about the company and its customers
    -- Good systems and resources

    Cons

-- Mission vs. margin could sometimes lean toward mission too much.
-- Change -- things were always changing

    Advice to Management

Think beyond the next month and more about the future of what could go from a good to great product.
