Lots of "interesting" people you'll meet

    Advice to Management

Paying managers more for their job will reduce turnover.

I worked at Holiday Stationstores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work if you are hard up for cash and need a lot of hours.

I enjoyed working overnights because I could work at my own pace and pick and choose which task to complete and when.

    Cons

These comments are not meant to damage the reputation of Holiday. These comments are purely for entertainment purposes only.

    the store was very disorganized.

    accountability was nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

I have no advice to management as from time to time I had to act as "overnight manager" and I did everything in my power to get those kids to lift a finger. My best advice is, good luck!

I worked at Holiday Stationstores full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The customers were great they made each day new and interesting. Always plenty of work which makes the day go by quick. Gas and food discounts were a plus. Decent health and dental coverage for those who work full time.

    Cons

Pay was horrible and upper management thinks of you as a number not a human being. No matter how hard you work it will never be enough to please management. High turnover rate due to lack of pay.

    Advice to Management

While you pat yourselves on the back for another year of record profits remember it's the people you pay the worst who are the faces of your fortune 500 company. I should know my face is on your posters.

I worked at Holiday Stationstores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Building relationships with frequent customers.

    Cons

They're famous for interviewing you for Store Manager position and only offering Assistant Manager position. As AM I worked till 11:30pm every shift including ever Saturday and Sunday and every holiday including Christmas. St. Paul area has terrible, degrading district management. Other areas may be fine but mine was the most stressful job I've ever had.

    Advice to Management

Be honest in hiring practices and treat store management with respect.

I have been working at Holiday Stationstores full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free pop and coffee on shift

Discount on Fuel and select items

Most Employees are nice, as well as the customers

    Cons

Barely a livable wage for employees.. Even Assistant Managers don't make enough to survive for sakes! This job NEEDS to pay between 13-15 per hour to start honestly.. Pay raises need to be better. There is plenty of responsibility and lots of work to get done every day, to make sure the whole store stays clean/prestine at ALL times!.. Put up with all kinds of customers. Hardly any time for breaks.. Can't even get a sit down/lunch break half of the time.. and I work the overnights! That's how busy we are at my store with people coming in all night, and with a big workload to deal with,,, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!

Unfortunately there are handful of employees who show up on time(like me),do most to all the work required(like me) and go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy and satisfied.. Reward your better/more reliable workers more often please. Same with promotions.

My shift constantly not only has our shift duties, but we have to repeatedly clean up after our previous shift who leaves the store a total mess.. There is no manager to check up after our 2nd shift, and even if we speak up and tell our manager, nothing still gets done! This has been the case for the almost 10 years I've been here.

    Advice to Management

Reward your hard working employees more often!
