Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Holland America full-time for more than 10 years
Pros
Flexible 9/80 schedule and good cruising benefits if you use them
Cons
Politics, politics, politics!!! Will add a higher paying workload on you but won’t increase your pay. Pay is nowhere near competitive....RUN! Allows retaliation and instead of working on the situation they just let both parties go. The CEO is all about the dollar and nothing about the people who work under him to bring him that outcome. Ability to advance is all about who you know and not what you know. This place has gone downhill fast!

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at Holland America full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
* 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off * New building
Cons
* Difficult commute to lower Queen Anne * Dysfunctional, silo'ed IT (one group run by an outside firm) makes it impossible to get anything big or important done * Old Boys' club at the top * Lower than market pay * Next to impossible to take the free yearly cruise . (In almost 4 years, I was never able to do it.)

Hiring process seems to be slow so some teams are left short handed for a long period of time.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at Holland America full-time for more than a year
Pros
9/80 work schedule, Work from Home, Free cruise once a year, Fun people, Open concept work space
Cons
Open Concept work space, Salaried individuals expected to work crazy overtime schedule, Will do what they can to save a buck off their employees (i.e merit increases are simply just a cost of living adjustment, will find whatever reasons needed to not match 401K or payout bonuses), Lack of communication & unclear path to find resolutions to workplace issues.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at Holland America full-time
Pros
The 9/80 schedule allows employees to take every other Friday off. The work culture is pretty laid back. Lots of future expansion in the pipeline.
Cons
Pay is somewhat lower than comparable positions at other companies.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Holland America full-time
Pros
-Office has a pretty view of Puget Sound -Free ship visits when ships are in port in the Summer -9/80 schedule is nice (work 9 hours per day, get every other Friday off)
Cons
-Not much of a vision or mission to get behind -Very high turnover (60-70%), lots of office drama, blaming and gossip -Outdated and badly run technology. Will take weeks and sometimes months to get your computer working properly when you start. If you have issues with different programs/access, you have to call a call center that isn't very helpful and just hope they can assign your ticket to someone on the onsite team who can help you within a couple days. Upper management gets instant IT assistance though, funny how that works. -Expensive benefits and subpar pay for Seattle area (are we really thinking we're going to retain people when they keep telling us they're getting 20-50% more money in their new jobs?) -Short term mindset and no growth. The priorities always seem to be just surviving to the next month/quarter/year, and never stepping back to consider if the way things are being done are how they should be being done. The phrase "this is just how we've always done things" rules here. -Office is really tough to commute to This is the kind of company that will tell you they're a great employer because of "lots of growth opportunities" (because the turnover is so high, no one wants the opportunities that are available since they're more increases in stress than they are pay or position), "we're in a cool industry" (makes no difference really, industry isn't what makes working in HR good or bad), and "free cruises" (hard to actually get approved, one year waiting period, perk only covers base cruise fare so you have to pay gratuities, taxes, port fees, airfare, extra food, and a fee if you want anything other than an inside cabin). In reality, the corporate office is a pretty disappointing place to work. I was excited when I started, but the technology issues, toxic office environment, teams just blaming each other and not taking responsibility for things, horrible commute, constantly having to train replacements and lack of good opportunities really gets to you.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Holland America full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Some flexibility in work arrangement, 9/80 work schedule was a nice to have
Cons
Management was disorganized and there was a high amount of in-fighting, highly misogynistic culture, felt like working in an episode of Mad Men where the good ol' boys would literally sit around talking about women in the office. The pay was also not competitive. The blame game thrives here.
