    Pros

Good benefits . Good food. Good itineraries

    Cons

Some cabins are terrible. Favouritism within team. Work 7 days a week.

    Advice to Management

Provide more management training to managers and not just promote after few years of doing the job. Management skills are not given but learned.

I have been working at Holland America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free cruises yearly, Paid Vaca, work from home

    Cons

You may not get paid on time and don't expect them to tell you in advance. You may not get paid at all, it's up to you to catch their mistakes. Supervisors don't know much more than you, need to break chain of command to get results. They set rules but don't want to follow them.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the ones who are making you money are happy!

I worked at Holland America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can work a 9 hour day and have every other Friday off.

    Cons

Working at Holland America was a horrible experience. I had the worst manager I have ever had. Senior management knows that she is terrible but they do not care enough about their employees to protect them from someone who is so abusive that the environment is hostile every day. Turnover is huge, the physical office is a terrible layout, and the culture feels like a throwback to the 70s. There is no telecommuting option for most people and the technology is spotty. This is not a company that strives to do the right thing.

    Advice to Management

Earn your enormous salary and have the hard conversations. Get rid of the manager that you know is bad, how much proof do you need? Stop hiring consultants that do not even live in the state. They are drawing huge salaries and working (?) from across the country while your actual employees work in an awful office and commute hours through traffic because you won't let them work from home once per week. You don't need more high priced "experts", you just need to do the right thing and get rid of one manager. You know who she is. Your employee satisfaction scores would improve immediately, turnover would go down.
