I have been working at Holland full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good co-workers. Good insurance. I really can't think of 20 good words to say about this company. It's went down hill.

    Cons

Long hours, sub-standard equipment, low end on wages. To them you're just a number. They pass out disciplinary letters for the smallest thing. They're more worried about making their numbers looking good than company service.

I have been working at Holland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people! Pay and benefits are good. Promotion opportunities.

    Cons

No flexible work schedules, or work from home.

    Advice to Management

Implement a flexible schedule &/or work from home (occasionally) options. Need more frequent communication from company leadership to the field.

    I worked at Holland full-time

    Pros

Good group of guys to work with. Very helpful to the new guys. Free benefits, Insurance was outstanding. Pay was awesome when you could work. They pay you for everything, from fueling to hooking your trailer.

    Cons

They don't care if you work or not. If you don't have seniority be ready to stay home for weeks at a time. Or laid off about 1x a year for about 1 to 3 months.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your drivers. Corporate why do you hire people that you know your gonna lay off in a month or two. We are people with families to take care of. We come in when you need us and then as soon as things slow down. You could care less about us. Your drivers have your back and get the loads there. You should have their backs.

I have been working at Holland part-time

    Pros

Easy work once you get the swing of things (Takes about two weeks). Flexible hours.

    Cons

Too much negativity, ruins the work mood. The pay is less of what should be given to the average doc worker (11.90 plus union dues).

    Advice to Management

Find enjoyment in your work. Attitude goes a long way.

I worked at Holland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is pretty competitive. The hours are very undesirable and management really doesn't care and that is why.

    Cons

The workplace is completely unprofessional. The position for linehaul dispatcher has been advertised for years nonstop (seriously) because it isn't very rewarding and the work conditions are horrible.
Some of the actions by management up and down are incredibly unethical and are not suited for today's workplace for drawing talented individuals.

    Advice to Management

Upper Management at Holland is very unprofessional.
The upper level has individuals who are very interested in letting subordinates know how smart they are and like to flirt with the ladies, and middle management below want to be "yes men" and only get positions by being that way, or simply by socializing in the right circles. There is no such thing as merit in this company. There are very very low barriers to entry in upper management within this company and that is part of the reason why. Past achievements and accomplishments need to be scrutinized. The screening process for officers and directors really could be improved. A company can only be as good as the people at the top, and that says it all right there!!
