I worked at Hollywood Casino part-time

    Pros

Tipped out, went home with cash in hand.

    Cons

Very strict attendance guidelines. Had to work most holidays. Tip Outs inconsistent, and workplace heavy with politics.

    Advice to Management

Hard to say. The casino industry is tough on workers and management in all honesty.

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best co-workers I'll ever have had.

    Cons

The HR department is laughable. The whole thing is a huge self love fest once you get to a middle management job. Eating on the company dime, affairs, and overall lack of professionalism. They recently got a state of the art event center and only book state fair level entertainment.

    Advice to Management

If I was corporate I'd seriously look at shuttering this location. The reviews from guests don't lie and the numbers are on a steady decline from neighboring competition.

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have decent benefits if you're full time you get free healthcare but must pay $50 every month for union dues which isn't bad and your main salary is based off of tips and the tips are good. It's nice to bring home cash everyday.

    Cons

It takes a long time to get those benefits. You normally start out part-time and become full-time within a year. You only make 7.25 an hour as a valet without raises. You're going to get crappy hours in the beginning because everyone takes the good hours. I ended up making $0 some days in tips because no one comes there on a Monday morning and when they do they don't tip until they are on their way out. So you park the cars but you don't see a dime of it. The managers act like they care in the beginning until they double-cross you and they will. I had a medical mental health condition and they fired me because of it. But they got away with it because they knew I didn't have the money to pay for a lawyer. The union is useless they only come around when they want something and have no way of contacting them.

    Advice to Management

Start caring for your employees. Don't show up just once a month and throw a whole month's worth of issues on to the table in 5 minutes.

    Pros

    nice co-workers that don't last

    Cons

    The point system is ludicrous.

    Advice to Management

Stop giving points when ill! You have a wellness program that says stay home if sick! Can't since get points! Life events may make you late a minute or more. Give employees a break when late due to events that are not of our control!

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Your coworkers make this a great place to work.

    Cons

The HR department is horrible. Every time I walked in for assistance there was a gossip fest in the shared services supervisors office. If you want your business known talk to anyone on that team. Instead of customer service you dealt with negative attitudes. They treated you like they had better things to do and you are wasting their time. Instead of helping you they referred you to the self service portal. Can you say lazy?! If they have time to gossip and party they should have time to take care of us. You can't trust that department.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together. There's no consistency. Provide true marquee customer service.

I have been working at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hollywood is a great place to spend 40 hors a week at. I feel like my co-workers are family. It is a challenging and rewarding job. I have so much fun time flies. I really enjoy my job.

    Cons

The only con to working at Hollywood is the uniforms. I think they are hot, uncomfortable, and ugly.

    Advice to Management

Management does a great job. I wish management had more time to enjoy the people they work with but they are very busy.

    Pros

Great environment, extremely friendly co-workers, flexible schedule and hours, paid time off accrues on the first day, health/dental/vision insurance available, opportunity for growth.

    Cons

24/7/365- Might take some time to adjust to a new schedule because the casino never closes. Union environment.

    Advice to Management

It truly is an ideal working situation. I wish I was still there. Stay on track!
