I have been working at Hollywood Casino part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family events, Time Off, Managers in banquets are awesome

    Cons

Long hours but that's to be expected with the job, Open 24/7

    Pros

    nice co-workers that don't last

    Cons

    The point system is ludicrous.

    Advice to Management

Stop giving points when ill! You have a wellness program that says stay home if sick! Can't since get points! Life events may make you late a minute or more. Give employees a break when late due to events that are not of our control!

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Your coworkers make this a great place to work.

    Cons

The HR department is horrible. Every time I walked in for assistance there was a gossip fest in the shared services supervisors office. If you want your business known talk to anyone on that team. Instead of customer service you dealt with negative attitudes. They treated you like they had better things to do and you are wasting their time. Instead of helping you they referred you to the self service portal. Can you say lazy?! If they have time to gossip and party they should have time to take care of us. You can't trust that department.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together. There's no consistency. Provide true marquee customer service.

I have been working at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hollywood is a great place to spend 40 hors a week at. I feel like my co-workers are family. It is a challenging and rewarding job. I have so much fun time flies. I really enjoy my job.

    Cons

The only con to working at Hollywood is the uniforms. I think they are hot, uncomfortable, and ugly.

    Advice to Management

Management does a great job. I wish management had more time to enjoy the people they work with but they are very busy.

    Pros

Great environment, extremely friendly co-workers, flexible schedule and hours, paid time off accrues on the first day, health/dental/vision insurance available, opportunity for growth.

    Cons

24/7/365- Might take some time to adjust to a new schedule because the casino never closes. Union environment.

    Advice to Management

It truly is an ideal working situation. I wish I was still there. Stay on track!

    Pros

Meet a variety of people. Some coworkers are pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Supervisors in depts become lazy when they hit the sup level. Drama between women. Some coworkers are not professional, they are ghetto when handling guests. Watch your back.

    Advice to Management

Stop in during night hours unannounced.

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Had some good co-workers, free pop and coffee

    Cons

Low pay, high turn-over, not enough staffing, no holiday pay or shift differential pay, horrible benefits

    Advice to Management

Look at why you have such a high turn over rate and take care of some of these issues

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There were some pretty cool employee incentives such as chefs that would cook lunch for you everyday and it would only cost $3.50 for whatever you wanted.

    Cons

Very low pay. I made less there after a 4 year degree than I did working at my local YMCA. Also had to pay $550 for a gaming license before I could even start.

    Advice to Management

Turnover was so high that management didn't care about keeping good employees. They just cared that someone was there to do the work.

I worked at Hollywood Casino full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun environment
Some of the people were really great

    Cons

The cheapest place I've ever worked, they would rather pay a temp $20 an hour to do a lousy job then pay a regular employee $12 an hour to do a better job.
Since there are no holidays or anything you get practically no vacation, less than a new janitor would get at most companies.
The management were the most uncaring and incapable of making decisions as anywhere I have ever seen.
I left work for two hours to take my wife to a chemotherapy session and when I came back I was called in and accused of not being dedicated enough to the company because I had left during the day. And they knew why I had left. That's how caring they are.
