Pros
Steady workflow Friendly staff Safe work environment
Cons
Occasional working weekends Too few forklifts
- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
It was close to home and one of the highest paying jobs in the area
Cons
I was the union steward and management did not like it. Ultimately they were terminating everyone with tenure and replacing us with kids from their teck school at Delta College. Facility management double charged customers for expendables. I moved to Los Banos from northern New Mexico where I worked for Cummins Rocky Mountain. My wages went backwards to go to work at Holt. Every 3 yrs we would have contract negotiations and every time the union would take our cost of living raise and we only had to reach in our pocket for 75 cents per hour to maintain our benefits. Holt needs to pay a livable wage to the guys that make it happen. Going backwards doesnt work for most. I would never recommend Holt for service or employment. No loyaty to the guys that bill the hours.

Pros
Family Style Company, with lots of comradery between coworkers.
Cons
Some of the business practices are outdated. Like not discussing salaries/pays.

Your just a number, Micromanaged, and not enough equipment available to rent or sale when a deal is possible!

None that I can think of…
Cons
Micro management is the only way the Rental Division manages, because they don’t trust anyone. They live and die by CRM input, you’ll spend about 2 hours a day doing this wonderful task. The base pay is low and below California’s minimum salary requirements. During non busy months, you would be better off being a Uber driver. Then when it gets busy there is not enough equipment on hand to rent or sale when a deals are possible. Also you’re competing with other internal Sales Reps to get the same equipment sent out to your individual deals. Rental Coordinators mostly can’t do their job right. Management defends the Coordinators even when they are in the wrong because they can’t afford for anyone to quit because they can’t find replacements because the pay is so low for that position, so there is another huge hurdle. When it comes to benefits for being an organization with over 800 employees their PPO Health Insurance premium is over $900 a month, with a insane max out of pocket expense deductible. I’ve worked for smaller organizations and have never seen that high of health insurance premiums. The allotment of Vacation time is horrible too, and when you have to take a day off your still obligated to work anyways. Lastly your working very long hours each day when you have to be in your territory by 7AM and can’t leave it until 5PM. Long story the pay isn’t enough to deal with all the headaches of the job.

Pros
Holt of California is a very well built company with upper management that actually care about each individual employee's success. The pay is competitive and the culture is friendly.
Cons
Like most traditional companies you are discouraged from discussing pay with other employees which is problematic. Also, due to the rural nature of tractor owners, this CAT dealership's company culture can be a bit conservative with lots of "good old boys".
