I have been working at Holtec International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, opportunities for advancement

    Cons

Upper managers don't treat employees fairly. Some mid managers don't know the work. Some back stabbing coworkers. Very noisy environment in some areas.
very bad union representation, and company sided.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with more respect and ask for advice from people that do the work

I worked at Holtec International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a few choice managers and employees who are truly great to work with. They will go to bat for you, work hard to get a project done under tight deadlines, and generally support the other employees

    Cons

Oh man...where do I start. Holtec has extremely high turnover which means that the company is constantly being inundated with young project managers (fresh out of college) with no experience running large multi million dollars jobs in one of the toughest environments.

The office is extremely clicky...it's almost like a middle school lunchroom and the frustrating part is that to advance though the company you have to make it through the "mean girls"

$300+million a year company that they do not issue company credit cards. All travel related expenses must be held on a personal card then submitted via an expense report. Repayment can take several weeks.

Multiple vendors complain about not having invoices paid in time which makes maintaining working relationships difficult

Very low year end bonus despite business being at an all time high. Typical year end bonus is $2000 - $4000 with raising averaging 2-3%. Typical unpaid overtime worked per year can range from 300 - 700 hours.

    Advice to Management

-Realize how big a company you truely are
    -Promote from within
-Trust your employees will make the right decisions
-Invest in updating software and document control systems

I worked at Holtec International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A dynamic and fast growing company. They dominate the industry with their superior technology and project execution. If you are a top performer this place is for you. Everyone works hard including their executives.

    Cons

It is not really a problem but sometimes you are expected to work late to support projects.

    Advice to Management

Look within the company to find your future leader. He/she is right there. Your job is to find them.

    Pros

Select individuals in management are open to new ideas.

    Cons

The environment can be a safety hazard. Not enough accountability to protecting co-workers and enforcing work rules.

    Advice to Management

Drive schedule adherence and train people to use supporting scheduling tools to make work status visable

I worked at Holtec International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of ability to learn and take on tasks outside of your primary role (but beware of the hours). Gained good experience.
Flexible work at home policy if needed.

    Cons

This was my first job out of college as an engineer, so I did not realize how terrible the environment was. There is no respect for employees. Compensation was very low compared with the industry and bonus was a joke. After putting in hundreds of hours of overtime in a given year don't expect to see anything for the extra work.
Management is technically competent, but has no management skills. You are lucky if your manager even knows what you are working on.
Continual yelling fights occur and can often be overheard. Very uncomfortable for people in surrounding offices. Employees get fired or forced out often because they were blamed for something (without warning).
Productivity is rated #1 which is a poor choice for the nuclear industry.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to change to improve the situation.
Employee feedback should be listened to.
Something needs to be done to reduce the number of hours for most employees or your turnover rate will continue to be very high.
Pay should be adjusted to align with the industry. If you only hire college graduates for low pay, who leave after a few years the company will be in huge trouble at some point.

I worked at Holtec International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay and vacation. Can't say to much else about this place because there is nothing good and I'm glad that I'm gone.

    Cons

Everything else besides pay and vacation. Management is a joke. They don't know anything about monkey could run that place better than them

    Advice to Management

Don't think your better than anybody else because you would think twice about messing with some of the workers if you seen them outside of work.

I worked at Holtec International full-time

    Pros

There are really no pros except for the commute being so close to home.

    Cons

I sat at my desk for 6 months when I started practically begging for work. Little instruction given the 'Holtec' way so when work wasn't done their way it didn't look good for me.

    Advice to Management

The big expansion to Camden shouldn't be overlooked as more than the owner trying to make himself look like such a charitable and great person. He is way over involved in departments he as no clue about. Let the experts in each area manage and stop micro managing.

I have and will continue to not recommend this company. I'd rather keep my friends than lose them by having them work here.
