    Pros

Big focus on community and serving the poor, Nice environment, diverse workplace, dedicated staff, onsite education, variety of opportunities, health promotion program, many in hospital sales ie uniform, book, handbag, movie and cafeteria discounts

    Cons

lots of traffic on beltway and nearby roads for commuters driving a distance

I worked at Holy Cross Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, building always clean, flexibility, and overall positive experience.

    Cons

Employee health ladies do not listen and think they know everything. I think they forget that everyone working there has some type of health or public health background. I test positive for TB skin test and told them. Instead of believing me and just allowing me to take an x-ray, they forced me to take the skin test which was very painful because of the reaction.

I worked at Holy Cross Health full-time

    Pros

Wonderful culture, great colleagues, leadership truly believes in the mission, amazing uninsured health centers

    Cons

Poor worklife balance, non existent leadership pipeline despite creating a leadership development program, stale strategy which has led to the organization losing out on revenue opportunities (telehealth, physician practices, urgent care, etc)

    Advice to Management

Truly walk the walk with your ideology regarding diversity and wanting to retain top talent. People of color are leaving in droves due to an unsupportive environment, WASP leadership team who only believe in promoting people who look like them, and below market pay.

I have been working at Holy Cross Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Ability to work independently
    Minimal interaction
    Self regulate workload

    Cons

Too much division, secrecy, back-stabbing and undermining by managers who abuse their power. Majority are aging women with no exciting personal life who come to work to start sit, gossip, and start trouble. They fail miserably at getting actual work accomplished.

    Advice to Management

    Seek mental help

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Holy Cross Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing coworkers (though they're as overworked as you are), some managers who cares (though they can't do much). An excellent learning opportunity.

    Cons

Horrible patient ratios throughout the entire Hospital - IMC is 5:1, medsurg 6:1, even NICU often 5:1. Poor pay. The staff is overworked so that your coworkers can't help you because the entire floor is drowning. Three patient ICU assignments are a daily occurrence. Doctors provide little information to families, leaving them in the dark. No aides on the unit.

    Advice to Management

Focus less money on frivolous amenities like how many TV channels patients can watch and national emoji day celebrations, and refocus it to patient care.

Provide adequate training and most of your managers require training in professionalism.
