    Business Outlook

    Pros

    Nice teammates and decent schedule

    Cons

The regional director of imaging is an unethical person and a poor leader. Her response to most questions is "that is how we have always done things." She does not care about building her teams, just about being in power and taking credit for the work of others.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Nov 25, 2020 - Registered Nurse, BSN in Harrisburg, PA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The good: great mission and values, Sisters of Christian Charity still very involved. The nurses and aides are generally really great and welcoming. There is a lot of great teamwork.

    Cons

The bad: Staffing is not great. Ratios are too high for nurses and aides (when we have an aide). Management gives some lip service to needing more staff but it has not happened in the years I've been there. There is high turnover. The ugly: Several months ago, the staffing dept took over the schedule and now staff are being forced to work on their weekends off and days previously approved as vacation. It is "self schedule" but then staffing "balances" the schedule and moves you around.

    It is a job

Oct 10, 2012 - RN in Camp Hill, PA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

50% off remaining balance of bill if you used HSH. Must use HSH for your medical needs or you pay higher deductible. If you are admitted to another hospital you will pay $500 deductible. It is waved if you are admitted to HSH. Everyone is a team player. Benefits are cheaper than other area hospitals but still expensive. For a family it will cost you about $165.00 per pay for health coverage. Eye and dental is cheap.

    Cons

If you have a chronic or serious illness they will find a way to get rid of you. Your illness makes their rates go higher, cheaper to get rid of you. With you for life is a lie! I have seen it happen six times in past year. Also if you have over 25 years with the hospital be careful you will not make it to 30. You will be gone. Cheaper to hire a young person out of college than to keep the long term employees.

    Pros and Cons

Jan 21, 2016 - Registered Nurse in Camp Hill, PA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good rate of pay, lots of overtime available; good hospitalists and ER providers (mostly), although we have lost some due to merger with Geisinger; almost all RN jobs are (3) 12hr shifts per week

    Cons

Ridiculous patient loads (as many as 8 pts each in the ER, NOT divided by acuity, this happens daily), awful insurance since the merger with Geisinger (we can ONLY use Holy or Geisinger providers AND they force us to provide access to our personal health records in order to qualify for reasonable insurance rates); no corporate policies, so everything is managed by putting out fires: true example, someone complained they had no pillow in the ER, suddenly "leadership" made huge furor out of making sure EVERY patient has a pillow! Even though we have no bp cuffs, 20ga angiocaths, or ancillary staff...

    Medical Records/front desk

Feb 23, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Camp Hill, PA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great clean general atmosphere, friendly and appreciative patients and families

    Cons

Very hard to get a position, long wait before a call back... Don't work there if you aren't strong-willed and ready for some passive agressive behavior from employees who have worked there for many years.. Must prove yourself to coworkers instead of having a positive outlook of your personality and work ethic.

    Pros

there is a café in the front of the hospital where they serve star bucks coffee

    Cons

Food is not fresh, there are few options for a healthy minded person. Come on, this is a hospital!
