I have been working at Holy Spirit full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Mission driven and relationship-based. Holy Spirit is focused on putting patients first. This has been my favorite hospital that I ever worked. My colleagues are the best workgroup I ever experienced.

    Cons

Healthcare reform and competition in the marketplace make healthcare a difficult business for all hospitals. We all have to learn to do more with less payment.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the Spirit!

I have been working at Holy Spirit part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are none - sad but true.

    Cons

Management barks down orders from on high and they are immunized against any criticism. We lowly workers have no voice and our opinions and concerns are irrelevant - EVEN WHEN MANAGEMENT BEGS US FOR THEM. Case in point - Management paid beaucoup bucks for an independent company to conduct an employee survey. We were literally begged by management on a daily basis for a month to complete the survey because "they wanted to know our concerns and opinions, and would address our concerns happily via meetings in each department". Well, all I can conclude is that they lied because we never heard the results of the survey. It was like it never happened. I guess they didn't like what the survey revealed - concerns about extreme understaffing and inefficient work practices. Very immature and unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horses - you are not the second coming of Christ. Oh, and grow up.

I have been working at Holy Spirit full-time

    Pros

A raise every year if you qualify.

    Cons

Just came aboard supposedly as an affiliate to Geisinger. However, Geisinger has come in and taken over Holy Spirit. Medical benefits are lousy. Management is lazy and do not know what they are doing. Differential treatment. Employee forums are a joke.

    Advice to Management

Sister Romaine, get your butt in gear and stop letting Geisinger run all over you.
