I have been working at Home Instead Senior Care full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Company to work for. They do a lot in the surrounding community, take care of their employees the best they can, sign on bonuses, annual bonus, referral bonus, insurance (if qualify per hours worked as a caregiver), Verizon/Sprint discount, PSECU optional membership, 401 K plan, Aflac, Set your own availability, Supportive office staff, hands on training and continuing ongoing training, and caregiver meetings every quarter. Chances to advance and become a lead Caregiver and possible advancement to an office position if one opens up.

    Cons

Need more Caregivers to help fill schedules

    Advice to Management

    Advice to Management

Some CGs could have had more training. I would suggest just popping in randomly to different shifts to see what's going on

I worked at Home Instead Senior Care part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The office is very professional and takes care of details for business. Many office staff that get benefits.

    Cons

Had trouble with a scheduler taking jobs from me and others to give to her friends. Sometimes left people not covered.
Caregivers were not recognized for their skill level. All were paid as untrained sitters. Lowest pay in area but charged the client the most.

    Pros

Taking care of people, the love you get form the people you care for.

    Cons

The pay sucks and the schedules are never the same from day to day. One week you will have 43 hrs and the next you will have 16. Or worse they will over work you

    Advice to Management

    Get the schedules stablized

I have been working at Home Instead Senior Care part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

lovely clients - many have become really good friends. some truly caring caregivers. Hour long calls allow you to do a better job.

    Cons

Bullying culture that starts with the owner and feeds down through management and office staff. Zero hours contract and having to literally beg for work - which you won't get if you're not popular with the office staff. Owner who is only concerned with business expansion and money. Poor wages and absolutely no perks to the job.

    Advice to Management

Spend some time learning what the job of caring is about. Give your caregivers the respect they deserve.
