I worked at Home Movie Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the co-workers were great! Staring at the Home Depot channel while on breaks was not like any form of tyrannical propaganda at all.

    Cons

Hating paying people. Hated giving hours. Store managers were switched out every few years like some kind of whimsical carousel. Most customers are impatient contractors or people who should have just called a professional to their house. The store's layouts were so confusing, it must have been intentional.

    Pros

Large company, many opportunities. It's not for everyone. But great for the resume.

    Cons

Poor work life balance. It's not for everyone but I have seen many make it work for multiple years. You might be one of those people.

    Advice to Management

    Keep cracking the whip

I have been working at Home Movie Depot (Less than a year)

    Pros

Helping customers fulfill their dreams or ideas for DIY projects.

    Cons

Not impressed with support of Upper Management. Evenings there is no around to help nor is the training adequate for helping with difficult customers. No matter what the problem is the customer is always right even if he is wrong.Makes it hard to get job done.

    Advice to Management

Need to revamp training and better leadership to help employees when the store is short of staff.
