I have been working at HomeGoods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good benefits awesome merchandise at awesome prices

    Cons

HomeGoods is a very stressful place to work management is lazy sit in the office the majority of the time don't help out enough on the floor stores are always Junkie coordinators work very hard to try and get things done but can't because they're always ringing because there's not enough cashiers women are mainly doing all the bulk of the work during Carrie Ann's and carry outs of heavy furniture and rugs getting down heavy rugs majority of the men that work at the store work in the back processing the truck but no men on the floor to help out with the heavy heavier stuff Never Enough payroll for staff especially cashiers coordinators have to have open availability and always expected to change their schedule after it's been made so they can be there all the time working can't get any overtime but expected to be there all the time day and night management and corporate people don't have enough respect for their staff or their coordinators give more respect to the coordinators ability and knowledge other things how to run things around the storeand share some of the profits that the company makes with the staff especially the coordinators at least offer us a gift card or something during the Christmas season like a $50 or $100 gift card to show your thankfulness

    Advice to Management

management show that you care about your employees and your staff especially your coordinators who do the bulk of the work in the store because we feel like you don't care you don't respect us and it's all about you and your vacation time or whatever or getting the truck done and quit being so impersonal your management if we come to you with a problem don't brush it off like it just doesn't mean anything to you take the time to listen to us and take action if you're looking for employment at HomeGoods this is this is what you can expect from management no support lazy managers who sit in the office all day and do as little as possible while the coordinators and the rest of the staff are stressing themselves out management take time to listen to your employees especially your coordinatorsa lot of employees are not happy with the amount of merchandise coming in the stores the stores too small for the amount of merchandise that is coming in speak up to your upper management about the amount of merchandise coming into the store store too small for the amount of merchandise coming in and not enough staff to take care of what needs to be done spend more time on the floor helping out and less time in the office sitting around talking and on your cell phone and outside smoking and running your mouth spend more time in the store helping out to get things done that need to be done employees feel that they're just an object there to get the job done and that they're not a person that you care about show and act like you appreciate your employees because a lot of people good employees are leaving the company for other companies including management because of how things are being run now very very stressful place to work affecting People's Health mentally and physically

I have been working at HomeGoods full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-Flexible hours and it is not difficult to get time off.
-active job that beats a desk job any day
    - great coworkers

    Cons

    -Low pay (it's minimum wage)
    -customers can be brutal

    Advice to Management

"The customer is always right" culture is toxic. I understand that the customer provides business, but customer loyalty is overrated to an extent. I have witnessed "loyal customers" steal merchandise and walk out the door knowing that no one can stop them. Customers constantly argue over a 'price-check' on high-end brands, and management often quickly gives into demands. A 50 dollar pot was haggled down to 5.99 due to a customer not accepting an accurate price check. If you are a customer, you can get away with anything! I will not be working here much longer, but I will shop here for the rest of my life to take advantage of my customer supremacy.

    Cool merchandise.

    Cons

Poor work life balance due to inconsistent shifts.
Customers demand a lot for a store staffed as a discount store.
Cannot locate merchandise in other stores since there is no tracking system.
Starting pay for an associate is $9 hour and will not increase much over time.
Limited amount of full time positions in each store.
    Very physical job.

I worked at HomeGoods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The co-workers are fun to work with, though they will be gone in 2 weeks.

    Cons

Sweat shop in the receiving area, management was the worst, they expect the work of 2 people.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together and start better work place procedures. If you don't Union gatherings will soon be occurring (well they already have started) and you will continue to lose good personnel while keeping the worst that can't get hired anywhere else.
