HS review - KM
Sep 21, 2022 - Remodeling Consultant in Wilmington, DERecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I’ve actually never felt the need to write a review for an employer until now. I feel it’s necessary because already in the short time working for HS it’s been the greatest working experience of my sales career and I’ve worked for some pretty awesome companies in my past. HomeStar tops them all. It’s not about the company though, it’s about the people I work for and with. I’ll start with one of the bosses any new person would meet. Without saying names, he has been in the industry for a long time and knows an incredible amount of information. He handles almost all of the training and during that process you will learn quickly how to be successful in this industry. The best part about training with him is he doesn’t hold any secrets from you. He shares all the secret sauce which is super appreciated in an industry like this. Sales can be pretty cutthroat at times but not here at HS. He will give you all the information you need, you just have to apply it. He will also always answer the phone which is also something I wasn’t used to prior to HS. Any question I have day or night I can call and he will help me out. It’s awesome to have an ongoing mentor like that. Speaking of mentor, he also provided me with one, who also works at HS. The mentor he assigned me is an awesome dude. Just another guy who will share any information with me because he genuinely wants to see me succeed. I’ve got to shadow him a few times now which is where you get to see exactly how everything works. It’s super helpful for me because I’m the type of person who has to see it done instead of reading some type of script. So if your like that as well, HS will provide you with as many shadows as you like. Another coworker I would like to mention, again without saying names, is a guy who reached out to me when I was brand new. He certainly didn’t have to. But being the good person he is, he wants to see me succeed just as much as I want to for myself. And he’s doing it for nothing mind you. Again that doesn’t happen often in sales and it happens a lot at HS. I’m part of a giant team it feels like. I’d like to mention the ladies who set and handle my appointments as well. I am in contact with them on the daily and they are so fun to work with. They are super positive all the time and it makes it easy to keep your head up working with people like them. Also worth mentioning, which may seem pretty small to some but super important to me, is the attention you get as an employee. For example: I had to switch my bank account during a pay week for direct deposit. I was sweating it because I was unsure if I did it time. After sending the email, within minutes, one of the ladies at HS reached out to me and confirmed all the information. It was really appreciated and made me feel taken care of. The pay structure HS provides is also worth mentioning. It’s extremely generous. I can work 2-5 hours a day and make a better living than I did working full time anywhere else. Lastly I want to mention how flexible and understanding HS is. I just had an unfortunate event occur in my life and they provided me with all the time I needed. That was such an incredible feeling. I could go on and on and on about the big and little things HS provides me as an employer. But I’ll end with this, if you’re considering joining the industry there is really only one place to work and that’s HS. I’ve worked for other companies in the industry and it’s night and day difference. If you commit yourself you can make a great living and have a blast doing it.

Great pay, most importantly for me They are great at recognizing and rewarding effort, I’ve moved up into a leadership role since I’ve been here. They held me down through the toughest medical battle of my life with stage 4 Cancer. They gave me basic things I could do to stay on in a limited capacity and when I recovered, my job was there waiting, with a promotion shortly after. They’ve always sat down with me when I had ideas and have always discussed & mostly tried everything I’ve brought to them to help the business. They take everyone seriously, whether it’s concerns, ideas, personal situations. I’m serious this place goes above and beyond & for its people ans customers. I’ve always seen them do the right thing even in grey areas or situations when they didn’t have to.
Cons
My specific job is performance based, which sounds challenging… getting paid only on results. I see it differently, I truly believe that stepping into the sales domain was the wisest thing I’ve ever done. This is a skill set that will always be in demand, wish I had the courage to have done it sooner. I also believe that finding success in this line of works means that one could sell and accomplish anything. I’m coming off of the best year I’ve ever had, I’ve been paid well, I have a good amount of freedom ans opportunity for time off, I like the people I work with & the company is the real deal.. what more can I say?

People are nice enough and that’s about it
Cons
They dupe you into thinking it isn’t door to door sales. The hours are long and horrible. And the pat is not good

Working with HomeStar!
Jan 27, 2021 - Junior Project Coordinator in Wilmington, DERecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working at HomeStar is a great experience! It's such a change to work for a company that makes you feel like you are working WITH them and not FOR them. I love how involved the owners are working right along side everyone else. All of the management is great! Everyone is super nice and willing to help out or point you in the right direction of who can help if they aren't capable of helping you with whatever it is you might need. Definitely the most stress free environment I have ever worked in. That being said there is A LOT that goes on between all the different departments and there is A LOT of work we have to get done, but when trained properly and in the right settings it just makes a world of difference and HomeStar as definitely showed me this.
Cons
HomeStar doesn't have any cons really. If I had to pick one the only con is the hours but they aren't even bad. I'm just used to a 6am-2:30pm job
