I worked at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits were the best I've ever seen. Not a dime came out of my pay check, and they put money into a rollover HSA with $5 prescriptions. I don't think I ever had to pay anything out of pocket. There is a good culture and everyone is really nice. The hard part about leaving Honda was leaving the people. I haven't found anything like it since!
Another pro is they have an AMAZING new onsite gym with great equipment and regulation bball court.

    Cons

Purchasing is known to not pay very well. They lose a lot of great talent because lack of pay. I was head hunted and left for an offer making DOUBLE what Honda was paying me. Another Con is it is SO far away from the city. It's an hour from downtown Columbus. You're pretty much stuck living in the Dublin area, unless you like living in BFE.
You technically get ZERO sick/PTO your first year, which is ridiculous. How is someone supposed to plan a dr or dentist appointment if work is 35 miles away from civilization.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people better and they will stop leaving. Toyota , Ford, & GM pay x2 as much. Honda starts people off with ZERO days of vacation for their first year, the other OEM's give 2 weeks on top of the shutdown. Also the raises and bonuses were a joke. I think my first raise amounted to $40 more a month.

Open office environment. Management encourages new ideas. Plenty of opportunities to work your way up the ladder. People are very friendly.

    Cons

Lots of travelling. Lots of overtime that they say isn't mandatory but you have to in order to meet the project deadlines

I have been working at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Uniforms are great. The money is great with 1.5 and 2.0 overtime. The work is challenging and very interesting. You get a company iphone. There are many opportunities to learn quickly and cover many projects. Benefits are great. Honda as a company has good core values.

    Cons

Promotions means pay cuts. Management does not hold employees accountable for their work. There can be a lot of travel if you are working on projects in other plants. Purchase program is not so great.

I have been working at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to develop skills; many incredible engineers to learn from. Honda provides the perfect amount of oversight as an engineer.

    Cons

Long commute from Columbus. There aren't too many cons to working here. 20 word minimum. Long commute. Long commute. Long commute.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

All are pretty much contractors at HNA so there is rare chance of growth but all are treated equally by management

    Cons

Growth opportunity is low which can be maximized

    Advice to Management

    Let Contractors grow as well.

I worked at Honda Engineering North America full-time

    Pros

Stable work, great people with an atmosphere geared toward learning and becoming an expert.

    Cons

Limited growth potential, stagnant management, lagging behind in technology. Compensation is not based on performance and promotions are not very attractive.

    Advice to Management

Change the employee pay to reflect effort and contributions. Recognize and reward talent and hold low performers accountable. Create opportunities that inspire employees.

    Pros

Good pay, amazing product lineup, strong positive culture, excellent history and company guidelines, good benefits, overtime compensation for engineers, strong bonus program (even in down years they still pay), history of proven innovation and technical expertise.

    Cons

Not many cons outside the normal engineering concerns such as deadlines and late meetings (with Japan). It's an open office environment... and the uniforms, (but the uniforms are free, just not very comfortable).

    Advice to Management

Keep it up, you are doing a great job. But make sure to watch for what customers really want. Balance form and function in products.
