Excellent work experience overall. The pay is ok but the benefits are amazing.

    Cons

There really isn't anything bad i just left to move closer to home.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Honda Engineering North America full-time

    Pros

Job security. Very challenging work, but I like challenges. Benefits are pretty good. You work with world class engineers. These guys are really good so you have to be at the top of your game and bring it every day. Great start for young engineers.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement. Pay is a little low compared to similar positions at other large corporations.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very easy, low stress job roles and office environment. Nearly everyone has a side job. Most employees are within a decade of retirement so workplace is very relaxed.

    Cons

Virtually no upward movement. Expect 15+ years of doing the same role with minimal wage growth. Large proliferation of low-performing workers, which will negatively impact your own performance.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to restructure management to fix the low-performer problem. Many performance metrics are out of the control of the single employee, and frustrating interactions with unmotivated individuals with no promise of upward advancement will result in exodus of newer employees until it is fixed.

I have been working at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities to get involved (sports, volunteering, competitions etc)
    People are relatively positive
    Interesting work
    Travel opportunities
    Good atmosphere
Plenty of lateral movement options since Honda is such a big company
    Benefits are amazing for families

    Cons

    Sometimes stuck in "old ways"
Cyclical work (high workload then nothing) due to new model activity
Hierarchy seems kind of flat and promotions and pay raises are not well defined

I worked at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits were the best I've ever seen. Not a dime came out of my pay check, and they put money into a rollover HSA with $5 prescriptions. I don't think I ever had to pay anything out of pocket. There is a good culture and everyone is really nice. The hard part about leaving Honda was leaving the people. I haven't found anything like it since!
Another pro is they have an AMAZING new onsite gym with great equipment and regulation bball court.

    Cons

Purchasing is known to not pay very well. They lose a lot of great talent because lack of pay. I was head hunted and left for an offer making DOUBLE what Honda was paying me. Another Con is it is SO far away from the city. It's an hour from downtown Columbus. You're pretty much stuck living in the Dublin area, unless you like living in BFE.
You technically get ZERO sick/PTO your first year, which is ridiculous. How is someone supposed to plan a dr or dentist appointment if work is 35 miles away from civilization.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people better and they will stop leaving. Toyota , Ford, & GM pay x2 as much. Honda starts people off with ZERO days of vacation for their first year, the other OEM's give 2 weeks on top of the shutdown. Also the raises and bonuses were a joke. I think my first raise amounted to $40 more a month.

    Cons

Lots of travelling. Lots of overtime that they say isn't mandatory but you have to in order to meet the project deadlines

I have been working at Honda Engineering North America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Uniforms are great. The money is great with 1.5 and 2.0 overtime. The work is challenging and very interesting. You get a company iphone. There are many opportunities to learn quickly and cover many projects. Benefits are great. Honda as a company has good core values.

    Cons

Promotions means pay cuts. Management does not hold employees accountable for their work. There can be a lot of travel if you are working on projects in other plants. Purchase program is not so great.

    Pros

Great place to develop skills; many incredible engineers to learn from. Honda provides the perfect amount of oversight as an engineer.

    Cons

Long commute from Columbus. There aren't too many cons to working here. 20 word minimum. Long commute. Long commute. Long commute.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work
