    I worked at Honda full-time

    Pros

    - Benefits
    - Good first job to learn the industry
    - Knowledgeable people with lots of experience
    - Good place to make a career for yourself, even if you don't have a college degree

    Cons

    - Extremely strict policies with no flexibility
    - Management mostly concerned about their own well being and moving up
    - Every man for himself kind of mentality company wide
    - Strong culture of promoting from within leads to very closed environment with hardly any room for new ideas and creativity
    - Management is stuck up and treats lower level engineers and employees like slaves (Congrats, you worked your butt off working your single process the exact same way for 10 years and now you're a "team manager" which means you get to boss around people)
    - Expect to put in plenty of overtime or get told off, even if you don't have much work to do
    - Expect to follow every single rule by the book, or be in loads of trouble
    - Below average pay for industry even considering benefits

    Advice to Management

Nothing, keep doing what you're doing - seems to be working even if it makes a poor environment for a lot of employees to thrive in.

I have been working at Honda full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large company can bring big projects

    Cons

Any attempts to do anything are met with scorn. There is no reward for good work and no punishment for horrible work. All they want is lemmings.

    Advice to Management

If you hired a person to be an expert let them be an expert. Too many uneducated people in middle management holding back people who can actually make the company better.

I have been working at Honda full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive Salary + overtime pay. good benefits

    Cons

The facility is not near a major city. Lean manufacturing leads to a heavy work load with unclear roles and responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

There is a weak middle management personnel, which does not know how to communicate and motivate young engineers well. Which leads to unclear responsibilities and frustration.

I have been working at Honda full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Discontinued employee pensions but, according to a senior executive, "Honda's decision wasn't as bad as that of other companies?"
    Still have health benefits.....for now.

    Cons

Certain vital administrative functions are denigrated and de-resourced to the point of nonexistence.
Spending half a billion dollars on HondaJet. Good luck making a profit on that...
Spending hundreds of millions on F1...again.
Obsolete enterprise systems patched together with standalone spreadsheets makes effective project management and coordination virtually impossible.

    Advice to Management

You don't have a clue what your business is or how valuable the few loyal (to the company, not to the did functional management) employees are. Focusing on metrics instead of productive and necessary activities while cutting resources is a recipe for failure.

I worked at Honda as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team but hard to communicate. On site sushi chef

    Cons

Old timer are too old time to accept new things. AHM, HAM and AHFC are all in power conflict on who will gets what. Manager thought they are doing you a favor on giving you a job???? What were they thinking??? It is a mutual relationship.

    Advice to Management

When you decide to bring in new blood, please give them guidance not just dump them on the job and wish it works out. Honda basically exist because of a group on die had Honda fans.
