I worked at Honeywell Process Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The pay is very competitive.

    Cons

Bad medical insurance, very high deductible. Ok 401k match. Very clique-ish management. Lots of gossip. Incompetent managers and workers who know how to sound like they know what they are doing instead of actually knowing what they are doing. Lack of guidance. Very judgmental and fear of top management culture.

    Advice to Management

Pay close attention to workers to know which ones are actually working and those who aren't. Pay more attention to what the employees have to say about the work they are doing. Work with the employees and not barking commands at them.

    Pros

Get to learn new technology constantly, because the company evolving with the rest of the world. Good hours, as long as the work gets done.

    Cons

They haven't hired anyone, even though there is tons of work in the queue. They won't hire until they get a PO, which makes it difficult to train and get the work done at the same time.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking benefits away from the employees and hire some help.

I worked at Honeywell Process Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good 401k matching and job security.

    Cons

Below average pay, little to no raises, no room for personal growth, training non-existent, majority employees are old white males and office is extremely homophobic.

    Advice to Management

Spread the corporate profit to hard working employees that drive the company, not just to the upper executives Christmas bonuses.

I worked at Honeywell Process Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some very talented, hard-working, intelligent people that work at HPS. Upper management communicates very frequently about how the company is performing. This transparency was very refreshing. The overall business strategy is fairly sound and HPS continues to do better than its competitors. Opportunities for advancement are readily available.

    Cons

Although opportunities for advancement are readily available, they aren't all that attractive. Directors in their late 50's brag about having to complete a Powerpoint presentation at 3am to satisfy their boss. This company mercilessly analyzes itself internally. They are so focused on scrutinizing themselves, they forget to take care of their employees and their customers. I've never been on so many site visits where the customer flat-out is unsatisfied with the level of service they are receiving. I'm not sure I had one positive site visit in the greater Houston area. And even worse, there is limited response from Honeywell, unless it's Exxon complaining.

HR is misleading about the company during the interview and onboarding process. If you have a young family, plan on $800-$900 coming out of your paycheck a month for a high deductible health plan (aka you pay $3000 straight out of your pocket before your 80/20 insurance kicks in. Honeywell mercilessly shoulders as much of the expense on the employee as possible and continually cuts benefits such as helping out with your HSA account.

Employees are afraid to put in expense reports because of the intense fiscal restraints at this company. Costs are scrutinized heavily.

Also, although Honeywell has money in the bank and is still paying dividends to shareholders, they frequently furlough all employees (take a day off every other week) and cut your pay by 10% to meet their quarterly margin requirements. Not to mention, in the midst of a furlough, Honeywell has no problem holding events for executives at expensive hotels in Houston, rather than following the cost conscious mentality ingrained here.

Be prepared to have a challenged work/life balance.

Be prepared to block off your lunch hour so that people will not schedule calls over it.

Be prepared for upper management to squeeze as much as they can out of you, over and over again.

Be prepared for office politics that are encouraged and more important than working with customers.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so cheap and provide good health benefits to your employees.

Take a step back and let your employees breathe every once in a while.

Stop furloughing employees while paying dividends to investors.

Treat your employees like people and they'll stay. I would have if that were the case.

    Pros

Gud exposure to Experion DCS SCADA.

    Cons

Wort health insurance ever. Had to give blood sample to get insured, otherwise considered smoker and had to pay a 2500$ penalty.

    Advice to Management

Don't give all the profit to the management, provide health insurance, build people up so that they can grow...and stop bringing cheap labor from India.
