I worked at Honeywell as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Company legacy offers potentially rich opportunities for commercial avionics development

    Cons

Facility occupancy was only ~20%. There has been a much higher degree of activity in the past. Design process was non-existent with no clear objective for the organization to achieve any completion of product development. I can only presume that the work is actually done at other locations.

    Advice to Management

Re-focus your development teams into a coherent design process.

I worked at Honeywell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of very smart people.

    Cons

Back stabbing, dishonest people who are cut throat. They work in silo's and care nothing about their people, it's all a facade. HR is horrible and upper management is demanding to the point that you have no quality of life and the pay is below scale.

    Advice to Management

It's hard to give advice when the CEO is the one at the top telling everyone that he is going to give them 20% more then they can handle - Dave Cote have you learned nothing from Jack? Must be why he passed you over for Jeff Immelt.

I worked at Honeywell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Sorry management...........we had Lts that thought they were Generals......in reality they were nothing. Money was good thats the only reason people stayed there.

    Cons

Long hours. Pension plan sucked; i drew 1,600 a month from age 55 to 62; then they dropped my pension down to 250...because i started getting my social security check. This is one rip off from that company.

    Advice to Management

Hire supervisors; that have had management training; not those stupid hillbillies.

I have been working at Honeywell (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good place to gain experience in basic engineering practices and processes. There's opportunity for growth within certain segments.

    Cons

The bottom line numbers trump everything; practices to show growth/revenue targets were met go to the point of being detrimental to the long term viability of the business. Aside from deleterious accounting/business decisions, three furloughs and two layoffs in 2016 within the Aerospace unit did little to raise the declining morale.

    Advice to Management

Having an open and even corporate culture is the path of long term growth. It's not right to grow the stock price on the backs of those actually doing work - removing benefits, lowering incentive pay and not giving earned raises will come home to roost.
