I worked at Hong Leong Finance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A stable company which almost can guarantee you stable bonus every year. This company is almost like family and everyone takes care of one another. There is no addition stress that you will face in your daily life and you definitely have enough time to spend with your family. Layoff is almost unheard of and as long as you put in the expected effort, you will get the most comfortable life you can ask for.

    Cons

The company has very traditional mindset and policies. They believe in benefitting everyone, including below average workers, than to reward the top performers more. If you are ambitious, hardworking, and productive, you may find yourself not being rewarded for the effort you have put in and the results you have produced.

    Advice to Management

In this changing environment, there is a widening gap between expectation and reality. The company should do their best to bridge the gap if the employee is able to achieve more than what is expected. Outdated HR policies should be reviewed frequently and restructured if needed to. Management team should have feedback session with the employees more often and not to dismiss any new suggestions from the ground. The same policies that worked for the past 50 years, will slowly get eliminated in the next 50.

  3. "Culture of this company"

    Pros

    Stable environment with friendly colleagues

    Cons

Traditional mindset, not receptive on new ideas and like to be status quo.
Senior management are not supportive of changes to meet the changing and fast moving industry, and do not have oversight of what the ground people are doing.
Senior management are not willingly to accept constructive ideas

    Advice to Management

Senior management should be more receptive towards changes and new ideas. And not to just reject any good initiative to enhance the company processes and productivity
