I have been working at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Incredible place to work, extremely smart people, love the newly renovated office space, great benefits, multiple staff events per year, good bonuses, open door policy for the most part, focus on improving and updating processes and systems, team oriented, fun incentives for different initiatives.

    Cons

None that are significant enough to list. And other more minor issues are things the firm is working on to make better.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your are doing! Continue to be open to new ideas and different ways of approaching things.

I have been working at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, competitive compensation, congenial work environment, involved in exciting initiatives which are both energizing, engaging and career developing.

    Cons

Honigman could be more progressive both in culture and in management. Although, I have seen movement towards this and is it is very refreshing.

    Advice to Management

    Continue in the current trends.

I have been working at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn full-time

    Pros

Honigman gives their employees a chance to succeed in their positions of choice, whether that be on an upward move or on a permanent status. Working at Honigman by no means limits your capabilities, abilities or dreams but instead makes it a pleasure to come to work and look forward to working with the most intellectual and impressive attorneys in the Midwest and beyond.

    Cons

Working for a growing company sometimes requires multiple job titles and extended hours to get the job done, but I do not see this as a con per se.

    Advice to Management

Visits from management are always a plus and lets us know we are appreciated. Thank you!

I have been working at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Co-workers are wonderful! I started working here over a year ago and the transition was so relaxed, and I did not feel overwhelmed. The atmosphere is one of teamwork -- I don't feel a division between attorneys / paralegals / staff. Insurance benefits are the best.

    Cons

Spouses are not covered by company insurance until 18 months have passed. HR will make arrangements to make getting insurance for spouses affordable which makes up for it, but it'd be nice if spouses were eligible immediately.

I worked at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great benefits package, better benefits if you are a salaried employee, and even better if you are an attorney.

    Cons

The firm only cares about one thing now, and that is profit. As they place making money ahead of the people working at the firm, and forgot that if they treat their people well than the profit will come. The firm brought in new outside leadership about 6 years ago, and that is when the direction of the firm turned from people oriented to money driven. You cannot even disagree with management now without your job... being on the line.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff as morale is at an all time low and there is reason partners that have been with the firm25 and 30 years are walking out the door. You have forgotten what made you successful, and it was not the drive to profit, it is the people that make up the firm.

I worked at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits were on par with others.

    Cons

Dismal culture. Depends on "who" you are. Senior leadership does not communicate but when something goes wrong - are the first to blame others. Serious micromanagement. Objectives change daily. No leadership that sets examples for others - very, very top down management style but again no communication. Everything is antiquated here. Exclusive culture. Best decision to leave this horrid environment. A lot of... turnover.

I worked at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the attorneys were nice.

    Cons

Management has no clue. Practices are old and outdated with no effort to improve or modernize, just keep doing things the same way as before. Staff is trampled on to try and make attorneys happy. HR has no idea what they are doing. The firm slashes employee benefits to maintain their bottom line and profit over everything else. Morale was low and it seemed like everyone was getting ready to move on to something... better around the corner. Staff was treated as expendable and not worth retaining in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and smell the coffee, or bring in management consultants. The management is clueless. Try and make it a place where you would actually like to come in to work every day.
