I have been working at Hood College (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people and work environment. Beautiful campus. Tuition benefits are a plus. Vacation time is generous. Good entry level job opportunities for someone who is interested in graduate school.

    Cons

Low pay, no raises or opportunities for growth. There are people who've worked at the institution for ten years with increasing responsibility who have never received a raise. Most people leave after they use the tuition benefit.

    Advice to Management

Comparable compensation is needed to retain talented staff

    Pros

A small regional college with a beautiful and beautifully maintained campus. Hood's student body has been growing in size. Hood does have some growing pains.

    Cons

Extremely difficult for those who have been at Hood for a long, long time to accept any change. Although Hood prides itself on being a "liberal" island in a sea of conservatism, that sentiment doesn't translate into any action.
