    Pros

If you are going into the Financial Services industry Hoopis is the place to do it. The leadership team genuinely cares and has many measures in place to ensure each advisor develops in all areas. The coaching and training provided I also felt were top notch.

    Cons

    None that come to mind.

I worked at Hoopis Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management provides more than enough tools and advice to help young reps succeed

    Cons

The company culture needs work, seems to be a BIG divide between reps and staff, training needs to be more cohesive between managers, learning how to do 1 thing 6 different ways gets complicated

    Advice to Management

Recruit better talent to retain talent you already have, don't throw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks

The sales positions are 100% entrepreneurial so the candidate must be uniquely suited for the role.

I worked at Hoopis Group full-time

    Pros

The folks in the suburban offices are chill.

    Cons

    Where do I begin...

This place is a breeding ground for gossip and drama - starting from the very top and working its way down. They bring you in with the illusion that it's a great environment and that you're going to make a lot of money. The reality is, the culture is poison and you work off 100% commission. A majority of people that are hired make less than $20,000/year and that's if they make it that long. Most people are out in the first few months. You don't get any training. All you get is a has-been cop who yells at you about your numbers and tells you you're going to fail.

All the managers are egomaniacs who are only concerned about where they're going to tee-off next. They don't care about you despite the picture they pain during the interview process.

    Advice to Management

Move on already. This company isn't gonna last.

I worked at Hoopis Group full-time

    Pros

The atmosphere and people that work at Hoopis are the two factors that really brought me there. My overall experience was great and would recommend them to anyone who is considering getting into the financial planning industry.

    Cons

100% commission was one of the bigger reasons for leaving and not having a steady pay check

I have been working at Hoopis Group full-time

    Pros

The possibility to set your own schedule and work when you want.
The possibility to make unlimited income.

    Cons

You can "work when you want".... but in reality you work when your clients or potential clients are willing to meet with you (lots of after normal work hours meetings... sometimes meetings on weekends).
Typically in the office at 7:30
    No base salary.
    Long sales cycle.
Fees to the Rep kick in after just one year

    Advice to Management

Base salary could improve the bad turnover ratio and reduce stress of your reps.
Needs to be better product and financial planning training.
Needs to be some better assistance to feed clients to the reps because calling friends and family can be a touchy issue.

I worked at Hoopis Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Part of MassMutual, great policyholder-owned company.

    Cons

Management is distant, clueless, little access when you need help. Lots of chiefs and few Indians. Office is a pit, with cubes that make you feel rat-like. Systems don't function. All commission: you are expected to sell life insurance to everyone, even if they don't need it. Horrible experience, would not recommend as employee or client. Beware!

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves! You apparently have written all these reviews.

I have been working at Hoopis Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In my time with Hoopis Group I have had an incredible experience. I can honestly say that I love coming into the office every day. A few of the pros to working at this firm are the amazing people I am surrounded with, the culture, and professional growth opportunities. I have been lucky enough to have the freedom to work and thrive in this environment without being micromanaged. I love that I get to work independently, but still be surrounded by a great team of intelligent and witty people that I can reach out to for support and guidance.

    Cons

I wish we had a Starbucks in our building!

    Advice to Management

Hoopis Group has a strong team of management that understand the importance of working together. Our management is also great at giving positive and constructive feedback to their team members and their juniors.
