I have been working at Horizon Behavioral Health full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

I've been at Horizon for 14 years. I started as a case manager and I am currently a manager. Horizon has been an excellent place for me to work. During my time there I was inspired to go back to school to obtain my LPC. Supervision was free and there was a lot of support from my co-workers and supervisor while I was working on it. Horizon is a family that I am extremely proud to be part of. I feel supported, respected,...

    Cons

As you can tell from some of the other reviews there are some unhappy staff but that is true anywhere you go. Due to the constant changes in behavioral health and state/federal requirements Horizon is in a state of change and some people don't handle change well. The behavioral health field is challenging and the pay isn't fantastic but Hoizon is a fantastic place to work if you are passionate about helping others in...

I have been working at Horizon Behavioral Health part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunities to grow and learn exist, and an amazing immediate supervisor.

    Cons

My position is barely paid attention to and upper management forgets I exist until they need a photo op and discuss how important the work I do is. There is no opportunity for advancement, let alone opportunity to increase my programs budget to pull in more client's.

    Advice to Management

More resources are needed for your workers to pull in more clients. It's not possible to pull in the amount of client's needed with a budget of $0.

I have been working at Horizon Behavioral Health part-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

    There is absolutely zero pros!

    Cons

Waste of money, zero leadership, unable to make changes, split up whole hospital teams...just horrible company altogether

    Advice to Management

Learn how to lead. Come to the front lines in the hospital and see what we do each and every day. Be a help, not a hindrance. Don’t break up a good team...fix the environment of Lourdes Hospital in Burlington County, NJ before all the staff walks out with new jobs! Horizon has been in the hospital for almost 4 years and they have done nothing but add paperwork to our day...oh and give us a bigger shred box. They are a...

I have been working at Horizon Behavioral Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Persuasive and positive image in media and on the surface but the reality is one of upheaval, chaos, and pandemonium.

    Cons

The revelation of what is going on within the agency is mind boggling. The cracks in the foundation are just the start. The walls are literally crumbling and the infrastructure is in shambles. Demands are overwhelming and immeasurable. Staff are burned out and running out. Turnover is representative of a corporate culture that is toxic and disagreeable. If you are promoted, you start your probationary period...

    Advice to Management

Assess who you are as a person before working at Horizon. Know your heart and your soul. If you have integrity you will not be happy here. It's a corporate cemetery with flowers on the grave.

      Pros

Good hours (worked during the school day) Enjoyed my coworkers Learned skills to move on to another job

I worked at Horizon Behavioral Health full-time

      Pros

Work week is 37.5 hours for now. As has been the pattern with all pros, I am sure this will be changed in the future.

      Cons

Too much overtime required with no overtime pay Unaffordable family insurance coverage Incessant turnover Fewer staff juggling increasing workload Constant moving of staff from one location to another Uncertain, unstable environment day to day Constant restructuring Pay manipulation Staff treated with little respect and no appreciation Clients are money to management with no concern for their well being Toxic...

      Advice to Management

Management doesn't care about staff or clients. Concerns fall on deaf ears. You will not be appreciated or respected. There is too much chaos to stay.

      Pros

I love working with my clients and the satisfaction of knowing that what I do makes a difference

      Cons

Management elongates anyone who dares disagree or question issues related to ethics and question “do no harm”

      Advice to Management

There is very little management left
