I worked at Horizon Coach Lines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping the disabled was rewarding. There was lots of overtime hours and I took them to increase my pay substantially. Strong Union that negotiated well with owners and management.

    Cons

Heavy Denver traffic and sometimes tight schedules. As a new driver, the shifts available were usually splits and included weekends.

I have been working at Horizon Coach Lines (Less than a year)

    Pros

co-workers are good to work with.

    Cons

Buses are old, outdated and worn out. Work assignments are handed out the day before, so it's very difficult to plan your personal life. Pay is low. Passenger amenities on buses are poor to non-existent (no wi-fi, unreliable video players and sound systems, poorly functioning climate control systems). Routes for scheduled services are badly laid out and times are unrealistic.

    Advice to Management

Invest in new buses, and upgrade the passenger amenities. Give drivers their work assignments further in advance so they can have a personal life. Better wages would decrease driver turnover, reduce training costs, and allow the company to be more selective in hiring drivers.

I worked at Horizon Coach Lines (More than 3 years)

I have been working at Horizon Coach Lines part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some good trips, friendly co workers. Equipment is safe to operate. Dispatchers are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Most of the equipment is outdated and in poor condition, buses that are 13 or more years old and driving them is a chore, drivers cockpit outdated, drivers seats broken. They have a few newer buses but these always go to the most senior drivers. Drivers paid on percentage basis of trip charge but the driver is not told what the trip charge was so no way to know if pay is correct or not. They tell us "take our word for it."

    Advice to Management

Assign buses to the trip, not the driver. Change pay scheme. Replace old, worn and outdated buses.
