I worked at Horizon Industries full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Leadership, Encourages Development, 401K Match, Additional benefits outside health, vision, dental, and ADD Insurance; company activities and events; Large company, so opportunities available if contracts end; Really great client project management; Supportive of family and personal issues (but not overly permissive)

    Cons

Pay is slightly lower; PTO could be higher; Company recently switched to Kaiser Permanente for healthcare -an issue if you are not in a heavily resourced area; Corporate offices are disorganized and information is not provided accurately or timely

    Advice to Management

Provide more training and resources to Human Resource staff. Provide them web forms or applications to assist with onboarding and exiting employees to make sure that all information is provided so that the employee is enrolled in all eligible benefits and is aware of deadlines and forfeitures upon separation of employment. The new or departing employee most likely will either not read or comprehend (or both) the material provided (if it IS provided) and the staff should make sure they are aware. It reflects badly on the company when they do not. Provide Onboarding and Exit Interviews that are proctored by someone other than the person that provided the service.

I have been working at Horizon Industries full-time

    Pros

The company is growing quickly and provides an abundance of opportunity for existing and new staff to grow with it. Employees are rewarded for the work they put in and they truly feel valued and part of the team.

Although the company is growing, they continue to maintain a family atmosphere and care about your well-being.

    Cons

No cons that I have personally experienced

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, continue to listen to employees and value their feedback.

I have been working at Horizon Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The owner CEO/President gets to know you and makes you feel like family. He makes frequent trips to sites not in Virginia to keep the communication open. When he makes those trips he always meets with his employees. Great company to work for

    Cons

I have not found any cons at this point. With how fast the company is growing I hope the feeling of family can continue as it moves down that path

    Advice to Management

Keep the feeling of family as long as you can, it goes a long way in keeping the employees happy

I worked at Horizon Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is growing and is teamed with top companies in the DC area, which should help with business expansion and creation of more job opportunities.

    Cons

Small company with limited career advancement; benefits could be better; employeers are not informed of new opportunities that become available.
